Throttle body tune using Morgan Carbtune Pro

Hi there guys. I just made a video showing what a good synchronization looks like using the Morgan Carbtune Pro. This is a really slick tool. Kind of a cross between old school and modern. I highly recommend watching Fred's video first if you have never done a throttle body sync.

Here is mine. About the only thing good about it is the readings on the tuner. My YouTube skills are not so good:

I have both. The Morgan is a good tool, but doesn't compare in any way to the Harmonizer. Morgan works pretty good though, good enough. Don't buy the stupid Motion Pro tool is the main advice I can give. JUNK!!!!!

I hear you Ron. Motion pro makes some fantastic tools. Unfortunately some of them are junk. The Harmonizer looks to be super duper accurate. OTOH, I do like the old school function of the Carbtune Pro. It was actually fun watching it fluctuate!! Now I need to get in the saddle on my freshly serviced Road Queen!!

FWIW, there is a company producing Harmonizers again. Unfortunately, they are limited in production ability and sold out again. If interested in buying one, keep an eye of their web page: https://katdash.com/harmonizer/

Now about the 3/4 turn technique, I believe this was done for the first generation ST. I think there was discussion about how fora to go on the second generation ST. So, have any of you noticed a difference on the second generation turning the screw out 3/4 turn? Is there possibly a better adjustment on the second generation bikes than 3/4 turn?

Thanks for that info on the Harmonizer Riteris. Yes there is a slight difference with the reference screw turned 3/4 out. The idle is smoother and just a hair bit higher. It might also be because I changed to iridium plugs, new air filter, and actually took the time to sync the throttle bodies dead balls on.

So with the reference screw all the way in from the factory and a slight tweak to the adjustment screw I was right at about 24 cmHg (centimeters of mercury at 0 deg C Pressure Unit).

After turning the reference screw out 3/4 of a turn and matching the adjustment screw, the idle went up a hair and the reading went up to just past 26 cmHg.

I was tempted to go by the service manual and not mess with the screw. But after Jaxon and Fred made the suggestion to turn it out I went for it. There are some mixed reviews of doing the 3/4 turn out. I'm willing to bet that the ones not happy with it are not syncing the throttle bodies correctly. It really does take some patience and blipping the throttle to get it right.

I'm very pleased with the Morgan Carbtune Pro. It's just like the old school mercury ones we used in the 70's. I don't even know if I was doing it right back then. I personally like the fact I can actually see the fluctuation in the rods and get both to match precisely. I'm sure the electronic ones are more user friendly. The Carbtune is a keeper. Very well built unit that has proven accuracy with a little patience from the user.

Something also to note is there are oil drips coming out of the reference side nipple. It's not just my bike. In Fred's video he had oil drops coming out too. I'm sure it's just the residual oil coming from the crankcase breather and recirculating though the throttle bodies.

I’ve tried it with my 2017 and it made a slight improvement but not much. I’m going to go for a ecu flash now

I synced mine with my carbtune that I've had for years. It really works great on my V-Max carbs. I should probably sync them again since my flash. I'm sure it'll make things even smoother. Is the 3/4 turn thing still a thing? I'm guessing it's to set the vacuum to balance against -- the same way it works on the reference carb on the V-Max.
