we are some large dudes for sure , I am 6'2" and about 260 with all my clothes on. butterthe bean , nothing wrong with your bike choices , get the one you like , as for me and my new honda , the maintenance schedual depends on the riding one does , my owners manual says is racing do oil changes every few hours , if riding at normal pace every 600 miles, since my bike is not plated and life has not (weather and work ) cooperated since December I have ridden it 19 miles , and that does not sound like much and that's true. but trails are more of a work out than riding down the street , I hope to very soon be riding on a more regular basis , my wife has most Saturdays booked the whole month or march. 2 weddings ,grandson birthday and a family reunion will just about kill the month. I am calm about it as I was not actually going to purchase till may , so by buying in December I am ahead of the curve.....

butterthebean , I saw on cycletrader that cycletown south has a left over ktm500exc for 9999.00 , which is a good price for a ktm , and I believe that there could be a few leftover crf450x's if you want to go that way. that wr450 you mentioned sounded kinda old , and could be risky . so its a crappy weekend with major cold on the way so we got nothing better to do but talk bikes here. kinda fun . doesn't cost anything , beats anything on TV. you can look on cycletrader for anybike your interested in to see whats available as far away as you might dare go.

It is a crappy weather weekend and it's only gonna get worse the next few days here in Texas. But I managed to change the oil in my S10 and do the stud mod in preparation for my ACD skid plate that I'm going to install tomorrow if it's not too cold.

Madhatter, I saw that cycletown south also had a used KTM 950 adventure for just 9K. I'd love that bike too... but they are both way out of my price range. There's a guy in Buda with a 2007 XR650L with less than 800 miles on it... he's asking $4200. Looks mint condition but it's basically stock. I'd have to spend a bit getting it set up for me (taller risers, bigger tank, suspension). I love that the XR650 has so much aftermarket support, but it's a bit heavier than what I was hoping for. Would like to have it but I don't think the guy will negotiate the price at all, which makes it difficult knowing that I'll have to put some more money into just so I can ride it comfortably.

i live here and didn't know there was even 1, have you sat on a xr650 ? its a bigger machine ergonomically than most of the Japanese dual sports , tall at least. bar risers are cheap , and you can do a seat from seat concepts for about 175.00 . procycle has everything one would need to modify the honda .
