My mind is made up, now I need to see which dealer will give me the most in trade-in VS sale price VS service VS whatever else I can negociate on...

I guess this could also be called "why daddy drinks" and "how to not choke someone who clearly thinks you are a moron".

Went to the closest Yamaha dealer near my place... never had a good vibe from there in the past but... i'm always willing to give a second chance and being close could be nice.

It started with the sexist remarks toward my wife when we both walked in with our full gear on after parking both bikes in front... and the first thing that came out of his mouth when I sat on a Tenere in the showroom was "You dont want to sit in the back to see if you like it?"... wife pretty much told him to fuck off. Not a good first impression.

I totally expect to be lowballed when providing a trade-in, that's part of the game... Part of the negos, if you actually get there.

But being outright lied to the point of telling me I dont know what i'm talking about over Yamaha NOT offering extended warranty according to this guy, only his "super awesome 3rd party warranty" that also happens to be more $$$(and he gets bigger kickbacks)... I dont think so.

Support your local dealer they said... o_O

Going to see some out of town dealers that have been friendlier to me in the past. So much for giving the local dealer another try.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the dealer. Can't speak for Ottawa stores, but Snow City in Toronto has always treated me well.

May want to look at a used Tenere, there's a bunch in Quebec on Kijiji at ok prices

Yeah, lots of dealers suck! They don't realise that for most, motorcyles are a hobby /toy and so we can choose where we go. But, I can I throw a light on perhaps he was not being sexist, just being ignorant with regards that the 'little lady' would ride pillion? So don't be that offended, life's too short, the part of being lied to, well that is something to get mad about. Just a curious question, extended 5 year warranties are not available in EU, are you sure that you can get those in Canada and it's not just the US that get these great deals?
And by all means try all the dealers, whom ever gives me the best deal gets my money, I have very little loyalty for local dealers as proven time and again, they show you very little.

Good advice, to look at used bikes and left overs as well..
Ain't no hobby for me, it's my main ride all year round..

Ya, fun times... Wife had been riding for 20 years, she looks the part also.

Selling my 2016 FJ-09, shad luggage, gel seat, tall winsdcreen, etc... setup for touring, i'm sure someone will enjoy it more than I do.

Next dealer i'm hitting will see a different bike also, leaving luggage on but no winscreen, rear rack or gel seat. Dealer wont give me more for this and I can get a couple hundreds on kijiji around here.
