After looking at a thread from a USA member about replacing the upper r.h. cowling, I thought I would take a look at the U.S. spares website. For some parts ot would be cheaper, even with postage and import duty to get some parts from over the pond.
For example from MCP, https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/yamaha-parts/2011-xt1200z-tenere-motorcycles/cowling
The r.h. lower cowling, the one that covers the electrics, £295, plus if you need them the 4 fasteners and washers, another £48. In the U.S. $140 the lot (the fan side cover is also shown as £295, without the grills) Not everything is overpriced, pretty much the same, but am I reading it wrong, or is this extortionate?

Most things for bikes in general are pricey , but as far as st goes I've never thought" oh that was reasonable" ...everything got a price but c,Mon drop ya profit margins .......shop around...as we all do ,but time wasted is time lost,..bikes used to be easy to fix ,cheap to run, but now ! Just put coils ,filter, plugs, pads, oils and fluids on mine after European 8 week tour ,could do with front discs as well ......40k MLS ..love the bike ,so we just gotta keep spending ...

I clicked "like", but the fact is I don't like it! I thought £16 was a bit salty for four rubber seat bumpers. I think I've just become accustomed to buying cheap stuff from China...!

I looked to do the Gen 1 clutch basket mod, a UK purchased basket was in excess of £500, imported from the US, with postage and import duties was very close to half that.
It seems we do get ripped off here in the UK.
If it makes you feel better (it wont) we in Europe get stuffed up the amazon too. But I do get what I need from the US, I have peeps over there.

We in the UK, perhaps without realising it, get our Yamaha parts from Europe. Until recently I ordered parts from A.J. Sutton, a UK company, but the parts get delivered from MCP Netherlands. I think AJS are just a middleman with no need to hold stock. Fowlers, another UK parts company seem only to hold the bits that would fit many other Yamahas, mainly bolts, washers, grommets etc. Anything more model specific seems to be back order.
