I looked at revzilla and I'm a bit confused... eo -7 , eo-7+, eo-7 Dakar, that is what I'm seeing......neighbor showed me his new eo-7 yester day , it is a + , says nothing about Dakar , a good looking tire none the less....will work great on his 701 husky.
If you use the drop downs for the E07+, under tire size you'll see the Tenere size 150/70B17 69T TL Dakar. This is what I got. The Dakar version has a yellow stripe. You should be able to pull up a pic on google.

Ride report...
Note: I still have the regular E07 up front, there's not E07+ for the front on a Tenere.

The E07+ rear did very well with twisty pavement and some dirt. The regular E07 is a great tire so, I don't expect any drastic improvement. These tires do better on the asphalt than I would expect with the tread pattern. Off-road is much more inspiring than the stock tires, PERIOD. You can't do wrong with either of these E07 tires.

Just got the E07+ mounted as the 07 dakar I had on before was unlikely to make the trip next week... will post up a review once I see how it does.

I've been waiting one month and no word back from my overseas supplier on whether I can order additional rear E-07 Dakars. I took that as most likely bad news so started the search for my new go to tire and ordered a E-07+ before I run out of Dakar stock.

It is going to be a month or more before I install it as still ~10k miles of mounted Dakars remaining. I have read a couple reports of the tire breaking loose on pavement long before the old Dakars did. This remains to be proven for me once I test ride the tire both on and off pavement. But initial inspection and measurements have me already less than optimistic, i.e. fewer plies, lighter weight and less tread depth. Doesn't seem like it will be the same beefy high mileage tire I have come to rely on.

E-07 Dakar E-07+
tread plies 3 polyester, 2 polymide 2 polyester, 2 aramid
sidewall plies 1 polyester, 2 polymide 2 polyester
tire weight 18.6 lbs 16.75 lbs
tread depth 12mm 10mm

That Ebay listing is misleading/confusing. There is no E-07+ Dakar version. Although the listing says Dakar "casing" the front tire photo is clearly not a Dakar either. Did they ship you a yellow striped Dakar front tire?

I followed this lead yesterday and got a set of Dakar’s:

From AdvR:

FWIW, I got my E07 Dakar (150/70 - 17) from Performance Cycle of Colorado last week, and their website says they still have 4 in stock. I haven't been able to beat the price anywhere ($157.95 shipped).

Yes both front and rear tire came with the yellow stripe on the left side, mounted them yesterday. I was a little worried what they might be like, they seem to ride smooth and quiet just like most new motorcycle tires I’ve had in the past, the first few traffic circles the steering seemed a little weird but I guess that it just took some time to get used to them, so far I’m pretty happy with them. Tomorrow we start heading for Tuktoyaktuk, if they last the entire trip without any serious trouble I will be very happy, round trip should be about 9,000 miles.

I was about to order an E-07(rear) to see they are no longer made. (I have a fairly new E-07 on the front.)

I like the older version of the E-07 because it was a very good on-road tire that did well on gravel. (I don't tend to do anything knarlier than gravel roads.)

Help me out to figure the new Mitas tires:

The new E-07 is a fifty/fifty tire... much more off-road oriented than the older version. I doubt it will have the longevity that the older version had. I doubt it will be as good on wet highways. So, I do not think it would be the ideal tire for me.

The E-08 looks to be a better tire suited for my needs. Probably get more distance out of it than my current E-07.

But, I am worried the E-08 is too similar to the Anakee which was not so good on the mud.

Or, should I take the suggestion and get the older E-07 from Performance Cycle of Colorado?

Thanks for helping me think this through!

That is good news, maybe hope for the E-07+ after all. Mitas's website still doesn't show a Dakar E-07+ and I couldn't find one at the time i ordered. Now I see Twisted Throttle has a separate Dakar item.

Could you look at sidewall and post back the plies of your Dakar. Also please snap a photo of tire upon your return or before replacing on the road. Thanks

The older E07 and the newer E07+ are both rated 50/50. Looks like the older E07 will continue on, just not in our rear tire size. The write up for the Plus indicates it's specific to the heavier more powerful Adventure/Tour bikes. Probably why it has such a limited size selection. I don't think the Plus is intended as a lesser tire when compared to it's predecessor. I'm liking the Plus I have mounted up now. Fine on pavement, fine on gravel, seems fine on tar snakes. Only a couple thousand so far.

Seems like some initial reports over at ADVRider are showing only around 8k on the E-07+ rear. Man if this is the case it's significantly less than most report of the E-07 Dakars...

When I Traded my 2013 in for a new 2018 the Dakar’s had a little over 10,000 on them, in my opinion there was only about 1,000 miles left in them, I was pretty well pleased with the Dakar’s and very likely would buy another set someday if they were available.

What Mitas E-07 combination do you guys think would give me the best grip on the road particullarly for 2 up riding. Looks like I can find the Dakar rear with origonal front or the + rear with the original front. I haven't heard that much about the traction on the plus tire.

I really don't do much more than easy gravel on this bike, and the OEM tires were OK for that until I was 2 up with luggage. Once I add the wife and full luggage I don't feel confidant with them. I do hope to ride a bunch of road.
