I don't care what tires I have. Zero interest in doing that on a big bike. Hell, I'm not doing that on two wheels unless it has TW200 stickers on the tank. Even then, I doubt I'm happy about it.
Just as a side note, the TW200 is terrible in deep sand. The engine is very underpowered and the suspension is awful.

That being said, I would take it over the Tenere in deep sand no matter what tires were on either bike. The Tenere is just too heavy of a bike for that environment. I have done a couple miles of deep sand in the Kofa refuge in Arizona and it wasn't a great time but we made it. I was running a Heidenau K-60 rear tire and Shinko 705 front then. My buddy was running Shinko 805 big blocks on his BMW, he dropped his bike about a dozen times and I stayed upright the entire time......I have more dirt experience than he does so the tires didn't make a difference.

With proper technique the Super Tenere handles deep sand just fine. I had no issues at all as long as I kept momentum and there were no hills. I was even able to navigate a few long stretches with "traction control on" in the least intrusive setting.

I put some good miles on the original EO7. Rode with a bike that had the + on it. Rode that bike up and down some nasty technical spots. Didn’t have traction problems with either one. Soft sand, rocks, gravel, pavement. Felt good in all. 1590278747610.png
Yikes!! Hard cases off road!!

Mitas E07 Dakar standard rear tires are now available!! This is a legitimate seller with a 100% rating. I will be watching this seller just to see how many of those tires fly off the shelves after posting it here.

I have to admit I'm intrigued by these E07 tires. I am simply amazed what kind of terrain you guys are putting these through. For me it's all about having a tire that can go through long sections of sand. Out here in the West it is almost impossible to avoid it. I'm not into mixing tires but maybe a E09/E10 in the front and a E07 in the rear? Has anyone tried that combination?

Heeey Chris, try em you might like em.

I find the traction excellent, for this bike. It isn’t this tire that is the limiting factor for me. The weight of the bike, and ground clearance are more limiting for myself.

What I really enjoyed this last trip was how smooth and quiet they are on the pavement. I like the big block knobbies, but the noise and vibration as they get worn Is daunting.

I found the eo7 front provided predictable, adequate grip for my riding. And I think the rear and the Tenere’s firing timing provide good traction in the rear. The Tenere (at least mine) does not like to lift the front wheel. I think this is due to frame, weight distribution, and swingarm length. But oh how stable she is at 75 mph on a gravel road. This bike likes and is so comfortable at speed.
I don’t know about longevity yet, but the true enduro versatility of these tires make them a winner for me.

mak10 , this bike is the anti (wheelie)machine . best you can do is get the front light ..... and I have had e07 before ,long wear ,great traction and pretty quiet . front tire tended to wobble crossing over center stripe at speed , the k60 never did that . TKC s are great and quite but rear will not last long . shinko 705 probably the best 60/40 or a 70/30 tire there is if one is mostly on asphalt . the scorpions are loud (mostly the rear ) I'm going back to the e07 when I get these scorpions wore out. hope to find the Dakar version some where out there.

I recall reading about a number of people that have done that combo. They really liked the better traction on the front over the E07. I always ran the E07 on both the front and rear, but in my limited ability, I could easily see where the knobby would have helped in the front. Always thought the rear was fine.

Oh how true that is. Although with TCS off you can ride small wheelies down the back side of a hump in a paved road. It's not much, but it's something.

I run the Mitas E-07+, they are perfect on and off-road. I even went "touring" with a group of friends who ride a Yamaha R1, an Aprillia Tuono Factory R and an BMW S1000RR. No problem keeping up with them. Until we got to a long straight ofcourse. S10 in Sport mode, electronic suspension at the hardest setting, no sweat. Pegs scraping the asphalt and no problems with traction. Who would have figured that...
