The new Mitas E07 Adventure tire (tyre)

After this weekend's dirt ride I'm pretty well fed-up with my nearly new rear K60. I'm looking to find some worthwhile replacement before the Arkansas ride next month. Currently trying to collect useful information about Dunlop's new offering. Dunlop MIssion

Don't know what I'm moving to...Mitas, you really screwed over your loyal customer base.
How about spooning on a set of Michelin Anakee Wilds just before the trip? I'm very confident they will get you there and back with tread to spare. I have found that they are an excellent road tire that gives up nothing to any other 50/50 tire other than mileage.

I'll put them into my research pile. I know nothing about them.

I'm way weighted towards long distance pavement over dirt performance. Not wise to built a church for the crowd on Easter Sunday. I appreciate reasonable performance on my occasional dirt excursions, but that is clearly where the compromise will exist. The K60 just isn't reasonable.

My baseline for a good tire begins and ends at pure performance. I look for the very best traction and grip I can find. Unfortunately this comes at a cost in terms of rapid tread wear

Are you opposed to doing tire changes on the road? Not a big deal for me but I know some guys don't care for it. If you mount your own tires you will notice the Super Tenere is about as easy as comes in regards to tire changes.

Someone over at ADVRider claims Mitas is going to bring back the original E07 in the near future. I hope he's right. Otherwise it looks like the Dunlop Mission will be next for me.

Do you have a link to that thread? I'd be interested to see if he had any credibility to be making a claim like that.

It's true...here's a recent email I got from Mitas about their E07 (original).
----------------------------------
As Gustavo mentioned, Mitas listened to customers all over the USA & Canada who demanded we bring back the E-07. The response since making the announcement has been overwhelmingly positive. We will be re-aligning the E-07+ as a 60/40 tire (which it realistically should have been in the first place) and pushing the E07 back into its proper position as premium 50/50 tire in the lineup.

It might take a bit of time for the distributors to react but we are hoping to see Maverick Distribution and Kimpex in Canada bring their inventories back up on that line as soon as possible. Best bet is to go to your local dealer and place an order, our distributors are aware and looking to catch up.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you out, Mitas is working hard to improve our presence in North America and step #1 was to start listening to our customers and interacting more directly. Thanks for your input!

Well, if this turns out to be true, then Mitas has re-earned my loyalty, simply for being willing to listen to their customers. I know that when I sent my email and letter to Mitas, I felt like it would go into their corporate circular file; I'll be really happy to be proven wrong.

My gosh, all this negative feedback over a tire that has better performance (E07+)? For no other reason than getting few thousand less miles out of it than the standard hard compound E07? What a strange thing considering a tire for mileage alone.

It is 100% true. Mitas is now producing and shipping the standard E07 worldwide as I type this. It will come in both the standard and Dakar version. Keep in mind that this will be a hard compound tire with less grip than the E07+. It's even being introduced on a few of the KTM models as an OEM tire. Enough guys and gals have complained demanding they bring back a durable tire. A lot of riders are more than willing to compromise grip to get big miles out of a long wearing tire.

I figure it should be available at retailers any day now:

Can't come back soon enough. I may have to get one of those short wearing tires Chris likes to give them time to get the E07 back in stock...probably not.

Glad to know they are listening. I also felt my contact with Mitas was met with no action.

And to the question...yes, if possible I am very against stopping a trip to change tires.

Listen to the customers, yup, bet the sales figures did that for them.

I am glad they are coming back. I love the tires, and for grip, seems to me that scraping the pegs, and riding in gully washers with confidence is good enough for me. Mileage is a bonus on that.

What’s going on next. Gonna give them a try. Maybe new ones will be available by the time these are done. D8C98A1B-3097-4CCC-A99A-C2D7C9A13BB4.jpeg

Why would you have to stop a trip to change a tire? It's all in the planning. Have one waiting for you when you stop for the night to eat and sleep. That way you are not interrupting your ride.

Grip and longevity do not go hand in hand when it comes to choosing a tire. The performance of a long wearing tire may suit you just fine. I'm so used to running soft compound tires that I would be petrified to drag pegs or rip through a gully on a Chevron treaded tire.

Changing a tire on a trip is one of the last things I want to do. How do you balance a tire on the road? Getting my bead to seat with my slime pump? Maybe. Emergency-yeah, I can do it.

Don’t want to

It will be interesting to see if they hold the same price point, or bump the price.

Anybody else having issues with their E07 + tires losing air after sitting for a week or 2? I have been working from home a lot and have found after the bike sits for some time, the front tire goes lose all of the air - down to zero (0). Mainly on the front. No holes, no nails, no visiable leaks with soapy water. The back one is not nearly as bad. A friend had the same issue & took his wheel and tire into the shop and they could not find anything wrong with it. Dismounted & remounted just to make sure. Mine now goes flat within a day or 2 of filling. This is the first tire I have had that has done that. I can understand a few pound loss sitting in the garage, but not down to zero in a day or 2.
