Paul (Limey) and I just parted ways in Wyoming after finishing the COBDR.

Had a great time with everyone! Looking forward to next year.

Paul and I had an eventful ride on the BDR. I'll share more details and pics in a few days when I get home, but let's just say that I crashed and broke the headlight/dashboard/windscreen assembly. After strapping that on the bike, we got stuck on an impassable road during a thunderstorm. Then, the next day, I swamped the bike at a water crossing south of stagecoach and had to pull the airbox and plugs. Good times!

Anyway, gonna hit Beartooth and Look passes on the way back to Seattle.

Safe travels everyone.

Cheers,
Michael

WOW sounds like you did a good job keeping yourself busy! Can't wait to hear the stories, glad you were able to finish the route. Sounds like you and limey had fun.

I have surgery tomorrow on my leg and ankle and then I get to relax and recover.

My bike made it home this weekend and I was able to look it over. All is well with the bike except for the rear wheel which exploded and caused the crash. Right before I left for the trip I laced up a 21" front and an 18" rear. Turns out that the new rims should have had the nipples in the rims as apposed to the hub like the factory set up. Long story short all of the spokes pulled through the rim and I ended up with the broken leg. I guess I should have let woody's lace them.

I can't wait until next year to meet everyone, sounds like I missed a great event.

ya, I will start another thread soon. I just picked up a bunch of my stuff this weekend with help from family at my house and brought it back to my parents where I am staying during recovery. This includes my computer so I can now get photos off my camera and put together a ride report.

sounds like you did a great job with the rally.

Ryan,

You may not know everybody that made the event, but I assure you WE all know you! You would have found it heartening that so many expressed concern and relief for your well being.

You gotta get well and make up for it next time. :)

Just want to add my two cents worth to what an amazing even this was. If you missed it....you missed out. Great riding....make that awesome! Fantastic people......I liked everyone I met. Got to ride with some great riders.......On road and off, I felt like a rookie. I've been riding for many years, new to the dirt, but I can’t believe what I saw people do. The event itself was spectacular. Jaxxon and Karson need a big pat on the back for this show. The sponsors were incredible. Some of the stuff given away blew my mind. A special thanks is also owed to Davis Service Center. They really took care of me FAST so I could keep enjoying my vacation.

Can I be the first to commit to the 2014 Rally?!?

Michael I read your post this morning in Buena Vista and decided to abort my BDR ride. Buelligan and I did the first 2 sections and I did the 3rd Sunday. It rain Sunday and Sunday night and the map said roads were impassable when wet. I was worried being by myself. Thanks for your post. If u swamped your bike right pass the stage station I understand. Last year my exhaust was bubbling in that hole. I rode hwy 50 across to Dodge City I'm at the Dodge House and I smelt enough cow poo to want a steak.

I wish I knew u two were going to ride I would have liked to tag along. Hope the put back together is not to hard. Definitely a memory for you. I take to many pics of food here is a pic of the BDR so guys can get an idea how slick things can get

I got to spend some limited time at the rally and met many great Tenere riders during the few days I was in the Ouray area. Wish I could have spent more time there, but I was the guy that had Harley and Gold Wing friends along on a pre-planned CO trip. I can confirm that Snakebitten arrived in Lake City with not even a bead of sweat on his brow after making the pass from Ouray to Lake City. Also want to thank Jaxson for the advice on my new 2013 Tenere with brake issues, turned out to be just a banjo bolt on line and the dealer in Montrose got me fixed up and on the road in a few hours including a trailer to Montrose. I will be at next year's rally for sure, leaving the tractors and Gold Wings for another trip. Awesome rally from what I saw and the Montrose dealer was great. I also got to make the run up Pikes Peak on Friday with the hay bales, start/finish, etc..and saw what the S10 does in the twisties--incredible both up and down the hill!! Hopefully a few others got to run the Peak. Left the house with 280 miles on bike and returned with 3340, it is everything they said the S10 was going to be. And now I have my farkle list complete after seeing a bunch of S10s in one place!! See you next year!!!

Heard about your misadventure from Michael ???

I hope the surgery goes well and that you recover well and fast so you can be back on the saddle soon ::001::

Michael and I almost did the Cinnamon pass but our friend Rob ran into trouble and we had to abort. I'm sure you will hear it from Michael.

The even was great, a big thanks to Jaxon and to all the organizers. It was nice to see a few faces from the Yukon Rally and meet some new people.

The roads are fantastic, the scenery amazing, I have lots of pictures and videos which I will post once I find out where the gallery is ::)

By the way, I'm George and we rode together on the Takini river adventure in the Yukon, lots of fun on that day

Here's two important pictures:

Wow, great week! ::012:: Excellent turnout for the Rally, fun meeting everyone & riding with some of you. My 3-day ride from Longmont CO over backroad passes was good until Tuesday at Cinnamon Pass, where I discovered something lacking -- skills, or energy, or cojones -- to get the loaded Ténéré over the top, so back to Lake City, then Montrose & Ouray. The west side of Ophir Pass demonstrated the Ténéré’s weight component (thanks for help getting her up, Mr. Jeep Driver); the Givi engine guard did its stuff. Jaxson & Karson did a super job putting this great event together; special thanks to Jaxson & his team for installing the skid plate (bought from drawing winner Jim) on Friday morning. Rode hard-surface to get home Friday evening (own bed - nuff said) through 90 minutes of hard rain/hail/fog mix on I-70 & Hwy 72 - Peak to Peak Highway. Looking forward to next year, hope for more miles for us Colorado types! -- Mike

After the beating I'm doing a little bike look over / check over..... Back half, then front half...... ::008::

Found standing water in the back of the swing arm that started rusting a steel part on the rear diff..... Also condensation up at the front U-joint... Had to fix my muffler and replace the plastic part that is bolted on to the swing arm next to the muffler joint.... Also lube/re lube all joints that Yamaha failed to lube at the factory... Then off to the next beat down.... ::26::
