As a matter of fact. . . . a flipped lid on a '90 Caprice, with a 350cid, does make an extremely satisfying howl/moan. Doesn't do squat for performance. In '91 they put the LT-1 motor in the Caprice. It'd run like a scalded ass ape; second gear scratch. But, you had better have a long distance to stop it; 205' to stop from 70mph.

Paddy decides he need’s to loose weight, so he calls a company and orders their 5-day, 5 lbs weight loss programme.
The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck..
She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me."
Without a second thought, Paddy takes off after her. A few miles later puffing and puffing, he finally gives up. The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 5 lbs as promised.
So, Paddy calls the company and orders their 5-day/10 lbs programme The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me".
Well, Paddy’s out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck. So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape.
Much to Paddy’s delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 10 lbs as promised. He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/25 lbs programme
"Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous programme "Bejeezus absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years."
The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, "If I catch you, you’re all mine."

Ha, that was exactly what I had (well, an '89 9C1). That thing was a tank and was treated as such. I think I had it ten years. At the end it had 190K and the biggest repair was a water pump. I traded it away for a couple sets of concert tickets.

. . . . A bit too KLR-ish? Yeah, me thinks so too!!!
You say that like it's a bad thing. :D That's what I was expecting when I got mine. SURPRISE! She's even better. I used my boxes to pick up some groceries for grillin' burgers; Hamburgers, buns, tomato, onions, two six packs, and a bag of ice.

I rode up to Idyllwild on Monday (took the FZ6, the Tenere is not idling correctly) and saw two Tenere's coming out of town as I was headed in.
Just found it amusing that I wasn't in the "club" that day! Explored some forest service roads on the way home, the FZ6 does just fine on fire roads.
