You wont be looking at changing the seat, the stock seat is great. I rode 150 kms on saturday,
got off to put some fuel in then rode the same home, the missus has also commented that the pillion
seat is very comfortable so there are no complaints. After 300kms I generally find your arse gets a bit
numb but not on this bike.

This great to hear. What about mods to reduce seat height just a bit for us height challenged?
With it in the lowest position specs say that it is 33.3 high which is the same as a DL 1000. Ant owners of both that can comment on the usable height and how the s10 feels in comparison?
I have also heard that you can remove the rubber bumpers under the seat to save a little height as well.

Unless you're a real short arse .... you won't need to lower the bike. The seat is relatively narrow allowing you to reach the ground more easily. I never think that reconfiguring the ground clearance on a bike like this makes sense. They threw a lot of money at the design .... and they got it right ;)

Of course you could fit a spacer but it will change the handling characteristics. With a sports bike if you jack it up at the back it'll turn in quicker. You don't really want that on the ST. Just position the seat on the higher of the two settings. You'll be fine with that.

I am 5'-9" with a 30 inseam. I think I will be fine with it in the lowered seat position. My Strom is fine and the DL-1000 and GS12 was fine for me too and they have the same posted seat height as the S10.
I would also prefer not to change anything in the suspension. I may raise the forks in the triple-clamps a half inch or so to quicken steering and gain a little lower height but that will probably be it.

That's where I'm at: 5'9", 30" inseam and ride a DL 1000 (for now!). I slid the forks up 1" in the clamps to make it a little quicker steering in the tight twisties. Did wonders for the Strom. Will have to wait and see how this bad boy handles. Unfortunately, the wait is going to be a long one!
