A few hints:

The guy who made this for me is a crazy sic craftsman with a TIG in his hand. (Hint#2 Fort Worth)
It IS a part for a Super Tenere. My Tenere. I didn't know he was making this. He's insane.

Fair question.

I only have the picture(s) he sent. But, I know what it is so I can guess the scale. :)

Total width of the hollow section (not the upper section with the closeup) is about 7" or so.
But I'm telling you now that I wouldn't have a clue myself if he hadn't sent a pic of it mounted before he had it painted or coated or whatever it is.

I will tell you though, it's actually functional. It needs to be there.
Reminds me of 20,000 leagues under the sea for some reason.

Looks kinda like it will replace that plastic cover behind your left calf, in front of the exhaust.

See....I don't get it.
You can SEE that in your imagination?

You nailed it Don! I thought it would be a lot tougher than that. But it's just me and my lack of artistic creativity. LOL

Yea, Jaxon was just messing around and said he wanted to surprise me. I am amazed at what he comes up with sometimes.

Not sure myself. But I believe it's scooping some air for the headers in the mid section.

The bike is getting painted. Should be ready in time to head to Romney. I'll be seeing it for the first time myself.
Had a bit of Jaxonizing done to it once I decided firmly I would be keeping it instead of chasing those December discounts on the 14-15's

Figured I'd throw the money I didn't lose on the trade-in at just making it whatever I dreamed up.
We'll see.

You didn't need to put the Fort Worth hint on the first line for me to know you were talking about Jaxon! And I was with Don, the overall picture looked like a new exhaust cover, to replace the honking factory plastic doo-dad.

And how you are getting the bike repainted. Maybe a fresh fuchsia? KTM orange?

That growth thing with the mesh in it, that's right in front of the seat key hole. I think that strange arc in the metal due right of the mesh panel is to clear that key hole. Looking forward to more pix.

That growth thing? Lol. I totally agree!

Nothing gets past this crew.
And yes, that gap is for the keyhole Don.

I'm not sure what the paint job is going to look like either. I gave a healthy dose of license to Jaxon.
If you have ever seen his Custom Chopper work, he has access to some world class artists. However, this will NOT be a dragon or skull or pirate theme. Lol

Honestly, this all started when I ordered a new helmet and when it came in and I took it out of the box, I went gaga over it. It's an Italian paint scheme that struck my fancy.
I made the mistake of sharing my passion for the helmet with Jaxon. One thing led to another.........

I dropped my bike off with instructions to "Don't paint it to match the helmet, but instead, paint the bike to make it look like the helmet was painted to match it"

I know that sounds like the same thing.......but it's not. And I think the painter understood.
While the bike was there at Jaxon's, I requested to have my Ohlins sent off for a refresh. Front and rear.
Again....one thing led........

It's been a few MONTHS. Jaxon has been let loose. I told him I wanted my Super Tenere to be his interpretation of what I would consider the completed version of the RTW bike those 2 funny guys SHOULD have done their documentary with.
I would elaborate what MY vision of that was and what I would address to accomplish that.
Then he would go TIG on it. :)

The Romney trip will be my first chance to ride my bike. I really miss it. I want it back! I've had some fun riding other bikes while I wait. (and yes, some Orange stuff)
But my Tenere is my ultimate bike. Has been since day 1 of having it. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it even more.

My only concern is Jaxon is gonna expect me to keep it clean. The crud and corrosion on it just drove him nuts. He addressed 99% of it. (He keeps his stuff immaculate)
I make no promises, except to get it good and filthy. And provide it a few opportunities to test its crashworthiness.

I know I've mostly become a lurker around here as of late, but I'm in on this one for the results! Can't wait to see what you two crazy Texans have come up with... **intrigued**

Lurker indeed.

But I already feel better finding out you're still in the fraternity. ::008::

And I'm with YOU, .....I can't wait either. He's had my bike locked up in his Frankenstein shop for a few months. I haven't seen it either.
(The delays mostly caused by me making whimsical new requests and Yamaha responding with a couple of shipments from Japan via canoe(?) )

I'm promised it's in paint. And paint is always last, right?
I'm itching to ride it to Romney. That's a long ride on a KTM 950SE. Lol

I'll try a and be a bit more active - work is crazy and it seems as if I barely have time to scan through a few threads every now-and-again just to keep up with the goings-on around here.

If your travels bring you through the Jacksonville area you've got steak on the grill, drink in the glass, garage space for your steed and a place to lay your head if you like...

Hopefully paint will be the last thing... How 'bout a pic of that fancy helmet to give us a hint at what's coming!

I have a Stratoliner with all the chrome that Mama Yama sells. Custom paint. I ride it but any scratch and OH MY, and there are a few and rock dings. Need to put it on the lift tomorrow and do some polishing of the rims, engine, and whatever. After Daytona a month ago it has not been cleaned.

Part of my love of the S10 is that I do not care if it is dirty. Has been dropped a couple of times and the minor scratches are badges of honor! I was able to walk away and the bike started when it was picked up!

Now that said it still gets washed but there is absolutely NO polishing! Get the water spots off the mirrors and windshield and
