Well, with my bikes suckling on battery tenders for the winter, I finally found time to finish a ride report on a short but awesome trip I took this summer to Nova Scotia on my trusty 2013 Super Ténéré.

There's dirt. Slab. High speed ferries. Liquor. And a terrifying encounter with Donair pizza (although not while on the bike, which performed flawlessly). You can check it out on my motoblog here: Oh. Canada.

A few preview photos. Hope you enjoy.

Mods, I’m guessing you’ll be inclined to move this to Tall Tales, but given the paucity of decent content these winter months, maybe thread can hang in general for a bit?

Nice pictures..agree, donairs are not my favourite either. When I was working, I spent time in Nova Scotia and was introduced to the donair. Hmmmm...fattening, and there are better things to eat. I hope that you wear your riding gear ALL THE TIME. Remember, a moment of carelessness, or an encounter with a negligent motorist (there's no shortage of them) could cost you a riding season or even more if you're not wearing your protective gear.

Thank you and you’re 110% right about ATGATT. I know I was breaking my own rule when on line and boarding the ferry, and a 1 block ride to dinner in shorts and a T-shirt...forgive me Shumba for I have sinned!

Ok, my son, I grant you forgiveness, just say three hail Harley's and ride safely every after.

I'm guessing that first pic is Portsmouth NH; of course there are plenty of "Portsmouth"es. Lived in Kittery ME for a spell. The second pic has got to be....anywhere in that part of the country. Gorgeous!! I don't miss the winters though.

Great post and an excellent read!
Longtime rider here but a newbie when it comes to adventure touring.
Picked up a used, very nicely farkled '13 S10 (pearl white) this past Summer and I am looking to take this exact type
of trip for the first time ever this Summer.
Last Summer was a weather washout most weekends and I as well as you try to avoid rain riding if possible.
If you are ever looking for a person to ride along with for another 3 day or shorter trip let me know. I am located within NYC.
Very good friend of mine bought a house right in your neck of the woods last year.
Regards,
MFP

Thanks for reading along MFP! You'll love the S10 for adventure touring. I've ridden mine all over New England on dirt, blue highways and slab. It's the ultimate mix of comfort, reliability and utility. Like the Land Cruiser of bikes. Go to Nova Scotia but spend more time—most of the other riders on the CAT were there for an entire week so they could do the epic Cabot trail. Trying to get a week pass from family and work to do that!

How strongly do you endorse the Heidenau K60s for the type of riding you do?
