Dave Despain was just in here talking to me.
He was born in Fairfield here and stops in a couple times a year.
He is traveling on that KLR of his.
I have tried to get him to take my bike out for a ride but he just won't do it.
I think if I could get him to ride it that he would have to have one.
He is a sight to be seen, His red Stitch jacket is so old and faded that he looks like he has ridden a million mile on that KLR.

He is a great guy and we having been keeping in touch via email for several years. First met him in 1999 when he brought his tv crew to our HSTA national rally in Marietta, OH , where he rode with us for a week and did a segment on his Two Wheel Tuesday program. Last time I saw him was at the Springfield Mile in May. He is enjoying being retired. Glad that you got to meet him, Steve.

Fred
Despain has been coming into my place of work for the 40 years that I have been there.
I think he may have worked there back when he went to Parsons College in Fairfield.
I don't know him much, He read my Three of TBDBITW ride to Alaska and must have liked it a lot.
Now he is always asking me where I have been lately.

That's really cool. Steve. I guess my highlights were when he mentioned me on his Two Wheel Tuesday program. and again when he interviewed Jim Pomeroy at Daytona and Jim showed Dave some pics of Pomeroy from the 1970's that I gave him earlier that week. We always managed to talk Bultacos, as he has a Sherpa T.

He was honored as the Grand Marshall at the Springfield Mile in May. He was the race announcer there for several years. A genuine first-class guy.

Since I have never had cable TV or anything like it , I have never really even seen his shows.
Someone used to tape the Supercross races for me and he hosted them at the time.
My boy must have watched the movie "Thrills, Spills, and Chills" a thousand times when he was little and Despain hosted that.
So I feel like he lived here at one time.
