Tail rack question

I’m asking for some help from the collective here. I’m on a 2017 non ES and am thinking about a top box. I’ve looked at pictures of a stock tail with the Yamaha box for the Tenere. The rack on mine looks nothing like what I’ve seen.

That’s a stock rack. I went with Bumot top case. You replace the rack when you add a top case.

Just remove the top flat portion of your luggage rack and the Yamaha top box clamps directly to the rack support.

You have two layers of rack there. Take off the top one.

Yup, everything in your photo is stock Yamaha parts. Just buy the top box and snap it on.

yep,

just take the top piece off yamaha box bolts to the underneath bit.

the givi plate above needs to bolt to the yamaha underneath rack above for the givi box to fit

You can also buy a Givi rack that does away with the whole Yamaha set up, so you can add a Givi box.

if you remove both yamaha parts and want a givi top box, this rack will go straight on.

But....its not an SR371.....its an SR371M
Difference being... The 371 is for any Monokey type case...even Trekkers
371M is for Monolock which are only plastic type cases

The M5M Monolock top plate can be swapped for a M5 (plastic) or M8A (alloy) Monokey plate

I really like my Givi top box. It go’s on and off-so easy. Doubles as a backrest, holds two helmets. Easy and quick to lock.

The Yamaha top box integrates well with the bike, no extra mount required and uses the same key as ignition provided you have the lock that came with the bike. The quality and durability is the same as your Yamaha side boxes, which isn’t top shelf by any means. One thing to keep in mind if you intend to keep your side boxes is the width of any top box must be less than the space between the lids, or you won’t be able to open them.

That’s a very good point gv550, I forgot about that.

If I use my panniers and Givi top box, I have to move the TB in order to open the panniers. Not a major hassle, but something to bear in mind.
