snip / adventure riders have been hoping for an update on the Yamaha Super Tenere. Some were hoping for an all-new 700-class T7, others were hoping the existing 1200 model would be revised.

Both sets of riders were disappointed today. /snip

snip / Today, Yamaha dropped a bummer bomb on ADV fanatics by saying the T7 is still a concept, now dubbed the Tenere 700 World Raid Concept.
And, the 1200 cc Super Tenere remains basically unchanged for yet another year, except for one faint glimmer of hope. / snip

snip / The Raid Edition is basically your standard Super Ten, with basic changes: 37-litre aluminum sidebags, a beefier skidplate, better handguards, accessory lights a new windscreen. / snip

Can't....keep....versions....straight.... ::010:: I'm guessing that this is EU only? They compare it to the 700 Raid. (that doesn't exist HERE.) And the fork tubes are colored different. I give up. ::025::

Yep, 2018 forks are black.
Looking at the pictures, it shows one with gold forks still. Guess depends on the color scheme you get?

A bit disappointed that the "raid" version does not include crash bars. Beefier skid plate and playing in the dirt, I would think a complete package they were going for would include that.

Yup. The "regular" '18's forks are black; the RAID's forks at gold. No rhyme or reason.

The Raid Edition sort of reminds me of .... a World Crosser with the current accessory catalog tossed at it. Though a little less blingy than the WC was in 2010. Black is the new silver?

Aside from possibly the bags, everything else looks available. Better handguards?

Ordered recently Raid Edition + crashbars, in Europe. The next step from 2011 ST. Few benefits coming and hoping the basic bike is at least as good as old one has been. GSA-idea scared far away for example with few pictures of collapsed frontforks.....
