SW Motech Cases - Great Deal

I thought I share this; I ordered the SW Motech Adventure Track cases/mount from a place in Germany for a really good price.

I didn't get the top case (but I think there is a deal including that as well). The two side cases (37l/45l) incl. all mounting hardware, locks and security lock for mounts came to EUR 756 or USD 850. They offer free shipping to the US.
I placed my order on May 23 and got the delivery today, everything was nicely packed and fully complete.
Just so that you are aware - if you initially follow the link, the price is higher (EUR 900) but once you create an account with a US address, the pricing is adjusted automatically (it removes the 19% VAT)

I was wondering, did you get hit with having to pay an import duty?

No, I did not have to pay any duties. I read somewhere that some people had to when they ordered stuff from abroad. But in most cases it was because of the coding some of the shipping companies use.
This was a great deal for me. Great service, low price and free shipping. It was last year, so I am not sure they are still offering similar deals.

I was wondering, did you get hit with having to pay an import duty?

According to the official documentation (forget the reference now), motorcycle accessories are duty free from almost every country except North Korea and Cuba. Not sure if China has been added since I last looked at it. Having said that there are several stories about FedEx attempting to collect import duties after delivery - don't pay it! I don't know if it's an awareness problem at FedEx or something more sinister. If you challenge them and point to the official documentation they go away.
