If you have never been to NW Arkansas I highly recommend getting a BUTLER MAP which shows and has highlighted all of the superb "must ride" paved and dual sport roads in this area.
This is a map from a tourism flyer that highlights the best paved MC roads in NW Arkansas. This area rivals W. North Carolina for great riding.

If you want a high resolution .pdf of this map and the Ark DOT road map of the area to print out, send me a PM with an email address. They are too large to attach here.

Thanks Gunner !

SO-SO many good roads...... I had thought I might just post up a quick comment or sentence to add to your post, a few good roads or combo of roads............................ then I started thinking, looking, remembering all the good stuff and realized I would be writing about six paragraphs of all the good stuff..... LOL, LOL, LOL
(and all the GREAT off-road)

Never mind, LOL

Some of the very best road riding, and for our big ADV bikes, some of the most beautiful off road around..... Looking forward to another AWESOME Arkansas ride !

For the folks that have not ridden this area, you have a TREAT to look forward to ! You WILL be back after the first time !

Car wash falls looks pretty cool ! I will be looking for that spot !
Okay, here is how to get to car wash falls from Marble Falls via mostly pavement until the last 15 miles.

Take Hw 7 south to Jasper. At Jasper turn west (right) on Hw 74 for about a half mile then turn south (left) on Hw 327. Take 327 south until it T intersects Hw 16 in Deer. Turn west (right) on Hw 16 and go about a mile until you see the Deer High school on the left. Just as you come to the high school, on the east side of it is a gravel county road called Parker Ridge road. Turn left on Parker Ridge rd and follow it for about 13 miles until you go down the steep switchback part of the road and at the bottom you will see the Big Piney river on the left. Just after you get down on the bottom you will see a narrow gravel road on your left when you have to make a hairpin left to get on it. If you miss that turn you will come to a low water cement bridge crossing that goes across the creek so you know you went to far so turn around and go back. Carwash falls is about two miles down after you make that hairpin left.

Once you get to the falls, if you keep going past it then about 1.5 miles later you will come to a water crossing that, depending on the water level, you *might* be able to cross which will take you out to HW 123. If not, turn around and when you get back to Parker Ridge road at the hairpin turn, go LEFT instead of right like you came from, and go across that low water cement bridge and follow that gravel road up the ridge back out to Hw 21.

You can then take Hw 21 north to Hw 43 to Ponca and Hw 74 back to Jasper.

This is a nice loop that is big bike friendly.

Thanks for posting this.
I have a Delorme Arkansas Topo Atlas and it just didn't match up to your description at all, so I Google earthed it and could follow your instructions and trace the roads the way you said.
Not sure I could have found it just using the Atlas.

Just ordered a replacement battery for my Garmin 595. The Original batter is working but won't fully charge or hold a charge it for long. Critical piece of equipment for me.

Music for the long journey plus I am directionally impaired. GPS makes me whole.
You should have called Garmin they most likely would have sent you a free replacement battery even though that most likely isn’t what’s causing your problem. They have sent me two free replacement batteries but that hasn’t fixed anything, the person I talked to both times claimed I was the only person he knew of having the battery problem but I believe that’s just bs . They offered to sell me a refurbished 595 for $160 and my old 595 and I just might wind up doing that, the refurbished 595 comes with a 90 day warranty.

I recognize that spot, it is on my tracks.........

On the topic of tracks, I am working up some now. Not sure how I will share them or get them out. I do have a dropbox acct, dont use Google share since we have Huddle at work. MIght ask 'ol Uncle Bob (you need a new airplane) to start a Track thread, or we can keep it here.

Any suggestions on how to get them out? I dont post them openly, yea. I guess you can call me that name, but if you are going you will get them. If not, you can hear about them after we ride them.

Steve, post or email me your tracks. Some of your posts look familiar but I'd like to make sure we get the riders on those photo spots. They are that good.

I usually don't ride with anyone with a GPS , we just don't care if we get lost.
If you show me one or more of the pictures , I'll tell you where it was taken. Is that what you want?

Good help is SO hard to find.
;)
Seriously, I appreciate Patrick collecting but we do need a place on the web that people can download tracks from. Does anybody have an account we could use till the end of April? If not, Dropbox has accounts for free for 30 days, so I'm thinking we set one up in March and time it to close right after the rally.

Another idea is to simply make some xerox copies of maps, mark them up and mail or otherwise send them to one of us to create routes from.

I have found the routes are constantly changing and evolving. Thats why I bring my laptop. Helps to keep everyone on the same page.
I need to hang out with you for a while and see just what you would use a laptop for at the rally, I don't even have a clue what to do with tracks.
