not being proud of your state , sad, maybe taking pride in your state might change a few things ...... didn't know this would be a hot potato . your license plate will have to do . I guess.
That is sad. I guess being proud of where you live isn't for everyone.

...Sbullet when you coming to Lockhart so I can buy you a bbq lunch ?
I passed through Lockhart once. Stopped at both famous bbq places and both had over an hour wait time. No thanks. Wont wait that long for any food especially not standing outside in line under the sun.

Regarding flags. My dilema and others is what state. Where I was born and raised (20 yrs), state I lived in the longest (23 yrs), where I currently live (13 yrs) or where I plan to live (not here) when I retire in a couple years. I just changed my travel schedule, should be stateside so can attend rally now. Mystery flag ordered.

...For both tent and trailer campers there will be plenty of grass with NO hookups at $15/night. There will be two shower/toilet rooms available...
Bob you can add me to the attendee list now.

Planning to just show up and pay for a tent spot, no reservation. Will be riding in straight from Moab so not sure yet of my arrival date.

I've been off the bike since the end of November and this is to let Dirt_Dad, Patrick, and some others who I like to ride dirt with that I won't be with you off-road.

For all the dumb shit I've done I simply slipped on wet leaves going downhill in the neighborhood and felt a pop in the left knee. Took it easy thinking I'd just mildly sprained it & things weren't too bad till a couple weeks later when it buckled and F-ING HURT. Fortunately an MRI showed it was a torn medial meniscus that limits rotation and not the ACL. The doc told me it was borderline for surgery but recommended against it till after trying rest and physical therapy, plus happy 60s, you've got arthritis. No shit - I already knew that part.

Again, it's been a while and the pain is not what it was. But as cool as some of those trails look in Arkansas and as much as I'd like to chase some of you into places Steve (eemsreno) and others have been posting, I've decided my days of actual dirt biking and crossing slippery streams are done. The risk of surgery from injuring it again means that I'll be staying with the people doing paved roads and decent dirt ones. Still looking forward to a day paddling.

As you older guys like to say, this getting old sucks.
And nice looking young PTs have evil hearts.

Looking forward to seeing you and a lot of guys we've only known through the forum!!!

btw - The knee is one reason I've been so interested in the lighter T700 but I also can just see the devil on my shoulder saying "That trail? Piece of cake."
;)

Damn, buddy....sorry to hear about the injury.

I have no idea what "dirt" I'll be riding in Arkansas. First time there, no idea what to expect. Also, not sure if DM will decide to ride any of the days we're there. If she does ride, not likely to do much if any dirt with her. If she's doing dirt (highly unlikely), it will be very easy stuff.

The riding at these events is usually very good. But the truth is, I can do great stuff anytime I want. I go to these events to catch up with friends and meet new ones. Looking forward to catching up with you there...if not sooner.

Heal up old man. You're making retirement sound hard. :D

Amen... I'm looking at surgery sometime in Feb for an injury that cut short a ride Mak10 and I were on. 8 weeks recovery time *sigh*
I'll find out in a couple weeks if and when the cutting will take place. I'm HOPING I'm not in recovery mode during the warm months.

Count me in for the spring rally. Just got a room booked tonight. Hope it's nice enough to ride down, seems to me we had a foot of snow fall last year on that weekend in Minnesota.

He's my elder (waaay elder). I have to show some level of respect.
Wait a minute here. tall skinny senile Bob is not that old!

On the plus side he likes boats.

Minus he volunteered to organize a ride in Patrick’s favorite place.

Plus he will not follow Patrick on the “good” county roads (paths/single track).

For those of you going to the rally in Arkansas and in need of a good old fashioned burger while out riding, a must stop is the Ozone Burger Barn located somewhere south of rally central. If the restaurant at Marble Falls isn't open for breakfast, a short ride to Harrison to the Townhouse Cafe will be a must stop
