I've been off the bike since the end of November and this is to let Dirt_Dad, Patrick, and some others who I like to ride dirt with that I won't be with you off-road.
For all the dumb shit I've done I simply slipped on wet leaves going downhill in the neighborhood and felt a pop in the left knee. Took it easy thinking I'd just mildly sprained it & things weren't too bad till a couple weeks later when it buckled and F-ING HURT. Fortunately an MRI showed it was a torn medial meniscus that limits rotation and not the ACL. The doc told me it was borderline for surgery but recommended against it till after trying rest and physical therapy, plus happy 60s, you've got arthritis. No shit - I already knew that part.
Again, it's been a while and the pain is not what it was. But as cool as some of those trails look in Arkansas and as much as I'd like to chase some of you into places Steve (eemsreno) and others have been posting, I've decided my days of actual dirt biking and crossing slippery streams are done. The risk of surgery from injuring it again means that I'll be staying with the people doing paved roads and decent dirt ones. Still looking forward to a day paddling.
As you older guys like to say, this getting old sucks.
And nice looking young PTs have evil hearts.
