Hello From Turkey

I just ordered my S10 blue today. Its the first bike I ordered without riding one. Next week I'll receive it, I was going to buy the R1200GSA but I never like the boxer engine. I used to have the fjr1300 when I lived in NY. In Turkey I thought this type of bike is better suited. I hope i wont regretted. First thing is to replace the exhaust any recommendations?

Hi Turk. Welcome to the forum. You will not regret your new acquisition. It will suit the roads in your region perfectly. You've had an FJR too. Very nice machine. Being the owner of 2009 FJR myself I know that you'll find the XT1200Z more than a match. There are a few exhaust systems out there already but the market is still a bit limited. You might want to wait until next year. Your choices so far are, Leo Vince, Remus and a carbon offering from Australia. We've seen the Akrapovic on the Worldcrosser but they have not released it to the general public yet. I still want to see Arrow and Two Brothers Racing .... maybe Yoshimura?

congrats on the super ten, turk. i used to have an 05 fjr. loved the bike, but i had a neighbor with more cash than brains and who am i to argue with an idiot? :)

i have to admit that i'm a wee bit jealous that you've ordered one AND it will arrive in a week or so. i wish we didn't have to wait that long here in the states. i've never ridden in turkey so not sure what to expect, but i assume have a bike like the super ten or the gs would keep your options open to traveling some not-so-well-traveled roads to see some not-often-seen stuff. very cool. please post some pics of your travels.

my ancestry is assyrian. my grandparents were married in baghdad. i'd love to, one day, tour the entire middle eastern region. not sure if that will ever happen, but i'll take what i'm able to get.

Thank you nankoweap,

our roads can be catogorized as good -bad and ugly :) but the seenary is great. We have a construction project in northen irak if that happens I plan to travel there with my bike but i may need an m16 or ak47 for protection :)) hopefully in 5-10 years you may be able to travel to bagdat.
my next trave,l i would like to travel around black sea and may be all the way to moscow..we'll see

Those roads are fantastic ... The Super Tenere will be right at home. My sister lives in the Kaya Valley about an hour from Fethiye .... out in the boonies. Beautiful place and people. :)

Turk,

i made my DL1000 VSTROM stock pipes louder by drilling out the back part and removing the little pipe that extends out past the rear of the muffler. It made a nice note change w/o breaking the bank!!! I would imagine the same could be done to the Tenere w/o changing.
Notice the holes i drilled around the center main hole?

Hoebster,

it may be a good way to go if that doesn't effect the engine performance or the sound is at acceptable levels. Since i'm not much of a technical guy, I wonder if any expert out there would recommend that forS10?

Turk,,
IF the WASP Works Carbon pipe with removable baffle doesn't affect the mapping, then i would think doing something like i did to the VSTROM may work. It looks like the WASP pipe is less restrictive for sure, but you will have to ask Greg at WASP that one for sure. He looks like he makes some great stuff.

well i asked him already. He did not looked at the OEM exhaust. But he is willing to sell me one of his for $795+ shipping. Its all good but i'm not sure if it would pass the Turkish Customs. I don't want to end up paying import charges etch..

I think the limit would come from lack of traction in the tires first.
