I’m thinking if the clutch basket was never upgraded. I’ll do that too.

Thanks all for the input. I’ll post an update later on.

Put 20 miles on it, noise was only noticed because I was listening for it. But it is much quieter off the center stand.

I’m not as worried about it, but I’ll keep everyone posted.

Figure I might upgrade the clutch basket next.

I upgraded my Gen1 bike with a Gen2 basket, for me it was a significant improvement. Smoother, much quieter, none of that clutch chudder, and the revs pick up a little quicker.........well it feels like they do. Apart from the cost, there’s no negatives. TBH,
Note- I only changed the basket, the gasket and centre nut were both reused. You will need a torque wrench that goes to, mmmm, think it was 130nm and a clutch holding tool.

You mentioned the CCT earlier, shine a torch in there, if it has 2BS stamped on it, it’s an upgraded part. The early versions had 23P.

lastly, if you search my posts, there’s a how to guide on the clutch swap, if you need it.

Other than a cracked or broken tooth, a piece of debris could have gotten between the teeth. (That usually makes more of a knocking sound though) The sound will subside the more it is ridden, but usually never goes away completely unless it is removed. I'm not thinking clutch basket can be the culprit in any way because the basket always spins, whether in neutral or not, so the sound would always be there.

Put another 135 mikes on it the other day to go to the lake for a beer and burger. Still rides, shifts fine. It must have been a problem with running bike on the center stand.

Yep, running the bike in gear on the center stand will make the "engine" make all types of racket... Sounds like the trans is about to fall out, lol. Its probably the crank / trans trying to catch up with each other, while there is no load on the rear wheel. Going back and forth, loading and unloading causes "sounds".... Ive heard this on all Tenere's for almost 10 years.

I discount much of what I hear on the center stand. There's the rubber cush at the back, gear play, and all sorts of other things that make the wheel advance and lag to make noise when the tolerances stack up.

If it hasn't blown up with your ring already it's probably good to go for a long time. I'd just suggest when changing the oil to look for metal sparkles.
