Stock or two brothers exhaust?

A first gen that I'm looking at online has a Two Brothers slip-on. I live in a suburban setting and head out for work at o'dark-thirty. I don't want to be that guy that wakes up the neighbors with an obnoxious motorcycle before the sun comes up.

From listening to audio clips online, this seems pretty loud even at low RPMs. How bad/loud is that during cold starts?

It's apples & oranges I know, but, my kid has a Two Brothers on his R6. It is STUPID loud; we make him ride behind us. I'm in the jbrown camp, what once was cool....now gets irritating after awhile. With stock, you can get a little throttle happy without attracting much, if any unwanted attention.

That's what I'm expecting from the few clips I've managed to find. It doesn't seem like there's much of a volume difference from just above idle to 3,000+ RPM. That is to say that it seems (through ear buds) to be loud the moment the throttle advances past idle.

That brings up a good point. I generally prefer to fly under the radar. I enjoy the HEMI goodness found under the hood of my truck even though it's muted somewhat by a factory muffler.

Yeah, listening to ANY exhaust/muffler on ANY device is going to be limited to the frequency response of the speakers, or ear buds. Almost impossible to get a true reproduced sound.

If it is a Two Brothers M2 slip-on your neighbors will not be enjoying your early morning start-ups and departures.

Just put a black series on my 15 last week. It's got a serious thump at idle but mellows out in the revs can barely tell it's there at hwy speed. I was surprised my delkvic on my dl650 is substantially louder at every rpm range.

I asked the dealer that's got it a question about the exhaust. Below is the response. I'm tempted to go at least check it out.

The two brothers exhausts gives this bike a throatier sound however it’s not an obnoxious sound. It’s quite nice without extra noise.

If you still have the stock header, change that for an Arrow and see if the increased volume from losing the cat is enough to make you happy. As a bonus it will add more power than changing the muffler.

I'm in the market for a S10 at the moment (the bike in question is a gen 1). I would think that swapping out the header would be the opposite of what I want, sound level wise (stock or as close to stock as possible).

Plus the stink of running without a cat. What are you getting 5hp I think I'm good with the 100 it's already got if it means I can sit at a stop light without tearing up.

THAT is the best way to decide. The exhaust you want, on the bike you want/have. You'll know when you hear it.
It’s loud and it sounds awesome. Definitely not for me though.

I think they’ll be willing to yank the aftermarket can and put a stock one on. If so...I think I’ll take it.

I was under the impression that you were considering an aftermarket muffler. Not that the bike you were considering comes with one. Anyhow, changing the header brings nice performance gains while being quiet enough that I can pass the mandatory strict sound inspection without a problem,

The OP was looking to upgrade to the aftermarket muffler in question. As this thread was directly related to the question that I had (stock vs. this muffler, as well as the volume difference between the two)...I opted to bump this thread to ask my question, rather than start a new one.

It doesn't smell any different without the cat and it still passes the strict emissions testing in my area.
