Had great experience over on StromTroopers - if you're ever on a V-Strom - you will know.
Looking to upgrade - maybe - but love my DL

I can't say that I've owned a Vstrom but I did look at them VERY seriously before I bought my ST. I was pretty much sold on getting the DL1000 for all the the reasons you already know. Great bikes.
Then on a whim I test road my ST and I was sold. I don't know how to explain it other than to say it's just a phenomenal bike. Not to take anything away from the DL, it's just that the ST is everything I wanted with nothing that I didn't.
I hope you find what you're looking for. The ST isn't for everyone but it sure was for me.

I just upgrade from a 2007 Wee strom
Haha - there's almost nothing left to upgrade. I just got the new bike itch! 40k miles, upgraded bars, seat, suspension, pegs, grips, windshield, cases, fork brace, foot, tail lights, driving lights ... I got the "wants" ... not the "needs".

I've got both & will keep both. A 2013 Wee and a 2020 STen ES. Best of both worlds. The STen is great for long distance touring (Not that the Wee wont do it). Its easier on the STen. The Wee is easier to push around on the driveway. Cruise Control is great and so is the electrically controlled suspension.
I use both bikes for minimum length trips of 300 km and with pillion and luggage for week long (+) trips.

I ran a KLV1000 for a while, a Strom/DL1000 in Kawasaki orange clothing, so got familiar with Strom Troopers. They are a good capable allrounder at a keen price, but low end fuelling poor & gear ratios more suited to a sports bike led me to move on. Can't speak for the later bikes, but they are a rare sight in the UK.

The gen2 Super10 would feel far more capable, both on/off road, but it's probably not the sharpest tool in the box these days, if you have the appropriate budget. Much depends on what you need/expect from your ride - Yamaha enthusiasts are expecting the T9 to be announced shortly, styled similarly to the T7, but with a 900cc triple engine. Sadly there has been no firm news of a replacement for the S10, despite BMW & KTM moving ahead with upgraded bikes in the large adv category.

Anyway welcome along - tell us what you decide.
