So yea, it's cold, dark, & wet in outback West Virginia.

But look closely,.....is that a line of diehard just-in-case knuckleheads?

Give you one hint of who one of them unstoppables belongs to. ;)

Snake, thanks for posting a photo of that super smooth scotch. Was just telling DM how good it was and she asked me what it was. Now I can point to your photo.

Great day. Had a fantastic ride up from Trike's place this morning. As always, he's a hell of a host. Weather was cloudy but no rain. Raining here now, but we still have at least 25 people either camping or at the hotels. Going to be a great weekend regardless of whatever weather we get. Already been a great day catching up with old friends.

Looking forward to kicking this event in to high gear.

Please ride safe everyone. It's going to be a good weekend.

Got two planning on being there from Michigan. Not sure if we'll be there late Friday or early Saturday. Depends what time I can sneak out of work.
Slight change of plans. Going to leave early Saturday and roll in to Romney that afternoon and camp for the night and find the long way home on Sunday.

Hey All, bet it's going to be a great weekend. Unfortunately I'm still on the road :D so can't be there. But I'll be thinking of you!

In the far south of Italy right now, where the riding is almost as good as West Virginia, but the food and coffee are better!

I caught up with Davide Biga the other day, who rode his Super Tenere around the world in 2011. We both have more Tha 120,000 miles on our bikes now.

Great stuff to Bob and other organisers, and hi to Larry and the great people at Romney Cycles. Have a moonshine for me! ::015::

For those who don't know, DCSTROM set up the firstCamp-n-Ride and Dirt Dad was in that group of seven. DD is the lead on this thing and DCStrom is enjoying retirement by riding around the world on his Tenere.

We've had a pretty steady rain all night that the forecast puts under 50% by 9am and gone by 11am. The bikes did need a wash to get some of the mud off. Should be a good day of riding again today!

Campfires tonight, chance of night rain later, and ride again tomorrow.

The Yamaha and Suzuki factory demo trucks had their bikes out yesterday and they brought a LOT of them. The Suzie truck has a monstrous awning out that runs the length of the trailer. Noticed last night that some folks were using it to get out of the rain.

Four those taking the class, Alain is here on his new Honda with the stealthy BRIGHT RED panniers.

I'm really hoping that the weather ends before we depart this afternoon. I want to avoid putting this bike in the worst place it could ever be.... The back of a truck for the ride out. If it were just me I'd ride through the rain and cold, but Mrs. Defekticon is coming with me this year, and is much less tolerant to weather than I am.

Either way, we'll see you this evening. Got my cyclops LED headlights installed yesterday for this trip.

Just for you Steve. :)

Trikepilot unveiled another day of seemingly unlimited tracks through the forest. All absolutely first-class. You know, those trails you can't take a Tenere on. Lol

The stretch this pic is from had 25 stream crossings alone. It was stunning riding.
Here's the guide himself perched on Fancy.

Just the riding I like!
No little girl yet.
Should be today.

Good morning all...welcome to Romney Camp N Ride 2017. Yesterday turned out to be a gorgeous spring day and perfect evening. This morning's rain will end and we should have another good day.

At the fire last night Wreckchecker and I received a pretty useful caution. With all the rain that has fallen in the last few days there will likely be new temporary waterfalls all around the region. It also means there will be debris washed out into the roads in random places. Please be aware the potential for that next blind corner to have some gravel, rocks, or mud waiting to greet you and you round the corner. Since many of the riders here will not be reading this, please alert the members of your group ride to this potential issue.

Children among us. This afternoon around 2:00 we are expecting some of the children from The Potomac Center to join us. They be lead across their field (where you're camping) to see our event, sit on some motorcycles, and experience what we are doing. Some have already volunteered to make their bikes available for the kids to sit on and allow them to dream about riding. I don't know how many kids we are expecting. Please be watching for them. The children helped by The Potomac Center have intellectual / developmental disabilities. I think it's awesome we have the opportunity to share our passion for motorcycles with these kids and maybe spark something inside some of them. Please do keep an eye out for them.

Speaking of The Potomac Center, we have had some generous donations so far and we're off to a good start. Still a big mountain to climb if we are going to beat last year's number, but the trend is going the right direction. I hope you'll join us in making this another record year. Raffle tickets are on sale at the sign up desk. You will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets right up until the raffle after tonight's sponsored dinner. This year the grand prize is a Hellite inflatable vest donated by Kawasaki. They have also donated two riding jackets. You do not need to be present to win...but it's always a good time, so plan to be there if you can.

T-Shirt sales...we have extra T-shirts for sale this year. Our shirt manufacture (InhouseBob from ADVrider) has generously donated a considerable number of extra shirts for sale this year. All the proceeds from extra shirts will go to the Potomac Center. Shirts are only $15 for a short sleeve, $17 for long.

For those who have not signed up yet, please do come into the Service door today to sign in to get your wrist band. The wrist band is your meal ticket for this evening. Romney Cycles is once again sponsoring the dinner for tonight. The raffle will follow shortly after the dinner.

Speaking of Romney Cycles... I know that Kevin (owner), Larry (GM), Heather, and probably more staff will be joining us after they close the dealership this evening. It's their chance to take a breath after work and get to know us. Everything you see at the Camp N Ride is sponsored by Romney Cycles. If you are enjoying your time here, please don't be shy about letting them know you appreciate all they have done to make this happen. This event does not happen without them.

Have a great day everyone.

Another great year. The official headcount was 87. The last two people arrived from Michigan at 7:00pm Saturday...after all the food was gone. They set out for Romney Saturday morning on their Teneres. I think they said it took 11 hours, (much of it in rain) to join us for a little bit that evening. I enjoyed talking to them around a windy fire last night. I did not enjoy telling them this morning they were heading into a bit of snow just west of Romney...they clearly were not concerned. I do love our group of riders.

What a great weekend. Yes, there was some rain, and yes, there were cold temps on Saturday, but I didn't hear anyone saying they wished they hadn't come. Instead I saw people who were happy to be there to catch up with old friends, were busy making new friends, and just generally enjoying being around so many like-minded, good, generous people. I know I was. I've grown to really cherish the time I get to spend with my friends who I only see one weekend a year at Romney.

Thank you all for taking the time, braving the elements, and doing what it took to join us this year at the Camp N Ride. I'll have more wrap up info later, but I didn't want to delay passing along my appreciation for everyone that participated this year. The camaraderie shared at this event is always my favorite part of doing this year after year. Thanks to all of you for coming and making it great.

Hope you all had a safe ride/drive home.

The weather made the weekend an experience. Finding snakebitten at the diner in a pickup truck due to a drizzle was priceless.

It was really good to finally meet you Anthony, in person.
Even if it did require revealing my poser-self to do it! ::001::

Still, I enjoyed it. For so many reasons.
#1: I'm blessed to have some thoroughly insane friends. They know who they are. Lol

The highlight of my weekend was seeing Snake interacting with the children from the school bringing a smile to there faces. And when you gave the boy the cowboy hat I will never forget the look on on his face. Have to be honest it brought tears to my eyes.

I'm sad I missed that part of the day, but it really left an impression on everyone. Also, now I have to read all of your posts in a drunken Canadian/Irish accent. Snakebitten gets his in a texas draw :)

Made it in about 1030 this morning. Patrick should be home by now. Had an awesome time some of the gnarliest trails ever on the big girl.
Lost one rear spoke and only bruised myself. I'm feeling my age today. It was good to see everyone and meet Defekticon and wife. The kids were special and a worthy cause for sure. Can't wait for next year!
