Just confirmed in the last hour...

Yamaha is sending the factory tractor trailer to the Camp N Ride this year.

Both Suzuki and Yamaha will be there for us this year.

Now about that headcount... the V-Strom guys are eating our lunch so far. We need to pick up the Tenere pace in the headcount department. ::008::

Wise move by Yamaha!

Jon not likely I'll be making it this year :( . My retina detached again! I had surgery Thursday this was the third time since Aug. I was really looking forward to coming. I went to get a cataract removed so I could get new glasses and the Doc informed me my retina was coming loose. Hoped to be straightened out by summer. I know you all will have fun! To anybody who hasn't been its worth the trip. WV and the folks of Romney are worth it.

Ouch, sorry to hear about the eye. Do wish you a speedy recovery and hope everything gets back to normal for you very quickly. Definitely will miss you at Romney, but I suspect somehow we'll end up in the same place again before the end of 2016. My gut tells me Spklbuk will have something to do with that. Heal up, buddy.

That doesn't sound fun at all.
Hope you heal up fine
Maybe you can make it out to the Utah rally.

You guys sure put together a good rally.
That's great for Yamaha to finally acknowledge that they are Super Tenere riders out there.

We'll have more to do around the dealership during the day if you want to come in the car.

Some clarifications...

I still own Fancy. And my play on her is always serious!! There have been no Honda sightings in my garage - yet...

I have only speculated that the Africa Twin looks on paper to be the ideal TBDITW for me. A test ride and finances will control and brand jump.

It appears that we will not see any ATs here in the US till after the date of the Romney event. However, were I to show up with an AT, Steve - you would most definitely get to run her through her paces. There very well may not be any AT's in the US by the time I leave on the TAT so Fancy is still top dog in the stable.

I am planning on coming to Romney if I can squeeze it into a busy schedule. Bummer to lose TrueGrip. I hope Snake re-emerges for Romney like he did last year. And it will be good to have ChecksWrecks out actually riding for that weekend. I even heard noises coming from DirtDad about how his new red 2016 Tenere was going to see more dirt.

We do need to find some more true offroad options so we are not repeating what we did last year. I need to track down Nathan and pick his mind a bit on our options.

Carry on...

Bob I would love to come hang out and catch up but need to save vacation time for when I'm finally able to ride. 3 surgeries in 5 months has knocked a hole in my time off bank. I'm sure it will be a great time. Steve you all look for Patrckg450 if he goes he has a dirt nose.

Thanks True Grip
Patrick are you going to make it?

Trike
I was only teasing about the Honda.
It looks like the AT will be a great bike, maybe a little more suited to solo riders than the Big Beast Tenere that handles massive loads two up.
Looks like the AT would be a better choice for that TAT trip if you are by yourself.
How long are you planning on being on that trail? sounds fun!
Hope you do make it to Romney.

New podcast for you guys.

Throttled Podcast

Kevin, a fellow Tenere rider (and member here) started a new motorcycle podcast last year. I think he's off to a strong start and I had the pleasure of being his first guest to discuss the our event. Really appreciate him bringing me on to help spread the word.

Thank, Kevin. I wish you continued good fortune with the show. I really enjoyed it.

Even if we repeat last years trails it is well worth every second spent! Very pretty!
I would like to ride them same trails with Michelle about a month later in the year. All them azaleas and rhododendron in blossom would really be something.

Steve -

You were just here for a few days. We have more roads and trails, so when you get done with WV you can continue up into PA &/or down into VA.

In the spirit of full disclosure - yes... Steve was only physically "in" WV for maybe 48 hours.

However, what few appreciate is that Steve rode what amounts to an Iron Butt ride (Ok... it was only 900+ miles!) from Iowa to Romney in a single push. He then spent two days riding the hardest off-road terrain of the event as part of TBDBITW group - often riding one handed so he could snap pix with the other while in motion. He then awoke at 0500 on Sunday and left in the predawn dark to tack on another Iron Butt single-push ride back to Iowa.

Two things were made crystal clear by all this. First, Steve rides in a class all by himself. And second, the Tenere might truly have the best value:performance ratio of any bike in the world.
