Guess I gotta go to Romney this year to find out.
See, there's one already.

Looks like I should be in for this. Looking forward to taking some longer rides like this on the bike instead of trailering the KLR. Are there trees on the property for hammocks?

There are trees. You can also bet there's a good amount of poison ivy near them. Stuff is everywhere in this part of the country.

Uh oh. I admit that I'm not clear on the analogy either, but I'm more concerned with what this means I gotta be able to DO, so as not to disappoint?
Whatever it is, I need to know quickly. Barely 5 months to work on it. Practice practice practice? ???

Thank goodness Tiger is not in his prime. THAT I DO have in common.

I'll coordinate shirts and so far the talk has been that rather than asking Romney Cycle to donate them, we will sell them and the profit will go to the Romney school which Dirt Dad mentioned.

We also have a lot of people of varying experience, both at riding and at leading. To help, I am making up a package to distribute which will have some group ride tips, what to do in case of accidents, and possibly maps or more.

And thanks to Jon (DD) and the folks at Romney Cycle for undertaking this again!
Maybe do some stickers?

No practice needed, like Tiger, just show up. Around here they have a major golf event every year. For weeks ahead of time everyone is wondering if Tiger will be there. When he announces he's not coming there's a big let down and attendance suffers.

So no pressure on you to actually do anything. Just show up. Of course if there's a thousand people following you around the camping area and clapping every time you finish a beer, well...that's on you.

Good reminder. I had talked to Larry (GM) about that at the end of the last event. I need to circle back on that one.

I need to get there this year, so count me in DD. Now to decide whether to camp or rough it in the hotel.

So how many are coming from the IL/IN area? Maybe we can all kinda meet up along the way and parade in ::021::

WOW looks like 2015 Romney is shaping up to be the event that Kev and Larry envisioned, just a few years ago. Believe it or not, I think we had 6, or was it 9? Teneres there that first year. This year, maybe ten times that? Great to see it grow, and really am sad I won't make it. I've done some amazing riding the last couple of years around Latin America and Europe, but still miss the people, the backroads, and the waitresses of in West Virginia.

The Romney guys and Dirt Dad always do a great job of organising the thing, and now with Checkswrecks as Chief T-Shirt wrangler, it'll be even better!

Speaking of T-Shirts - interest in doing the auction of the Brazil shirts again? Maybe a swap this time and they can raise some money at their end as well? If so, I'll talk to the guys there...

OK, I'm one step closer! Just bought the wife's plane tickets and confirmed my time off. I'll be driving the truck out with the Tenere and prolly the WR as well. Going to be almost three weeks of exploring for our retirement place, riding, and having fun with the family. I'd be riding there and back otherwise. Careful, those who don't know and chose to toss a jibe my way for "trailering" the S10. You clearly don't remember my 21 day 8300 mile trip back there which kicked off with an Iron Butt 50CC. ::024:: I need the truck for family hauling duty and all the other stuff I have planned with the wife and daughter!

Se you guys/gals there!!! ::015::

Firefight, let me take that bullet for you. ::013::

Nobody, and I mean nobody was more guilty than ME for rolling my eyes or making some quack remark when I saw someone trailer their Tenere!

Well, it falls under the category of "human pride". The bad kind. Lol
And this universe is pretty efficient at charging the offender for such foolishness. Eventually, for sure.

I got charged. BIG helping of crow, and I had it coming.

I trailer now! Unapologetically. So send any heat you get my way. I'm now fireproof.

Besides, I can last forever on the road now.
And my knobbies don't get melted in transit.

Leave it to Snakebitten to trailer a trailer... AND his WLDB

The only way I am going to be able to make the Romney event with my schedule is to trailer. Drive or ride... I am going to have to do some nightowl traveling to make it happen and I just cannot see the point of 8+ hours of droning down an interstate at night melting off perfectly good knobbies with limited load capacity when I can trailer in/out carrying everything I could ever want or need.

So I'll take some of that heat as well...

Someone owes me a new keyboard for that photo!!! ::025:: ::025:: ::025:: ::025:: ::025:: ::025::

Thanks for the understanding gents!! I'm typically a 20,000-40,000 mile a year rider excepting 2014. 2014 saw me ride fewer miles than I have ever ridden in my over 35 years of riding. 1300 hours of overtime plus my normal 56 hour work week and a bunch of training classes saw to it that riding was something I did not do!

Looking forward to seeing everyone....no matter what manner of conveyance we get there with!

That's the spirit fellas.

The object is to get there! And rally ride as a rally of........ whatever we are. ::)

Besides, it's not like we are trailering low mileage garage queens that are destined to get ridden only in a parade of exhibitionist. (see, I have my trailer-defense all figured out. I only regret that it's at the expense of others, of which I might become myself someday)

Funny, Dirt_Mom and I were just talking yesterday about trailering the Teneres to some far away place to save more time for riding. It's only a thought right now, but it was actually discussed as a legitimate option. This is a bit eerie.

Trevor, see what you started? I think we had a total of 7 that first year. This year looks to really be snowballing. Glad to have Checkswrecks help with the shirts and the ride leader info. You know if you decide to fly in for this I'm sure we can get you a ride from the airport. Hell, I bet Romney would so happy to see you they might even scrounge up a bike for you to ride. What do you say, should we hold a camping spot for you?
