Update...

Camp N Ride T-Shirts: I spoke with Larry today regarding the interest I've seen on all three boards for Romney Cycle logo gear, event t-shirts, Romney stuff in general. He is completely willing to do a 3rd Annual Camp N Ride t-shirt. However he is very concerned about looking "tacky" and having any of us think he's trying to make money off the event. His attitude is clearly "We invited everyone here for a good time, I don't want you to think we are trying to pick your pockets." (editorial comment - how many dealers do you know that think this way?)

He made it very clear he does not want to make money on the shirts. Before he knows what each shirt and shipping will cost, he must know how many shirts he needs to make. There is a price break at different quantities. The shirts have always had a Romney logo on the front. The back has some adventure photo. Last year's was a photo from the event. Always been a mystery what is on the shirt until it arrives.

I told him I'd put it out to the group. If you would like to purchase an event t-shirt (at cost), please send me a PM with how many shirts you're interested in getting (count only - no size needed now). After I get a total I'll pass it to Larry and he'll figure out his cost. Then I'll let everyone know and they can call and place their order through the Romney Cycles parts department.

Romney Cycles Discount - In the same discussion Larry also brought up wanting to extend a 10% discount on all parts. When I asked him to define "parts" he sent me the following: Anything that we represent , if we are a dealer for it we will discount 10 percent on parts, apparel or accessories. So to get the discount call the Romney Cycles Parts department and mention the Adventure Camp N Ride event discount. It is available to anyone even if you did not attend.

Charity update - I believe I'm heading back to Romney Friday morning to represent the group and join Romney Cycles in presenting the check to the school. I'll post the photo and or article when I see it. Great job everyone. I'm told the school is really shocked by the donation.

I had a chance to talk things over with Checkswrecks regarding the accident. As a person who has a career related to accidents there was no one better for me to speak with.

Thanks Jon, but YOU've put this together the last two years! I just offered to help with a couple of items.

:D
Wow! I'd forgotten that shot. Trevor had no beard and Jon had long hair.

Trevor - You'd be happy to know that the Big Agnes cushion is still tight and hasn't ever leaked on me. Glad to have you chiming in.

Nice to hear that Romney will do the shirts and I'm looking forward to next year!

That's a couple of items off my plate. And for that, I'm grateful to have your help.

Yes, long hair like that is hard to maintain. All the blow drying, hairspray and other products just became too much. ;D

Hey everyone, had a great time at Romney riding and meeting everyone. Hats off to Romney Cycles and D_D for making this all come together. It started Friday afternoon with a private tour of Buck Indian just outside Romney next door to a gun shop. The guy has 40+ vintage Indians and isn't afraid to tell you the story on each one of them. Maybe next year I can arrange a group visit. Our group rode the "easy dirt" route posted and it was a hoot. Best part was turning our keys off at the top of Dolly Sods and racing to the bottom via gravity. Tenere is no match for those light weight V-Stroms when it comes to gravity. The ride home to Ohio was good except for the horrendous cross winds. We finally gave in and got on the slab with about 1.5 hrs to go. We made a stop at Coopers Rock after riding along the cheat river watching the many Kayakers in the rapids along the way (RT72 & 26). We also found the end of rt 7 out of Morgantown in New Martinsville on the Ohio river. We ate at this wonderful buffet called Quinet's I highly recommend.

I have some helmet cam footage I hope to get together when I get back home this weekend. I had to get up bright an early Monday and fly to Dallas where I'm currently dragging ass from all the fun I had last weekend.

2. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...MORE STUFF TO BUY! Event T shirts are a MUST. I don't want it for free, but I want an event T shirt. It's the only way I wind up with any new clothes in my wardrobe! A "Romney Rally" sticker would be cool too. Again, NOT FREE, take my money!

I want a sticker too ::012::

Rode back out to Romney last Friday to join Kevin and present the check to the school. Mark Gandolfi was there to represent the WV School for the Deaf and Blind.

Mark told us the money goes straight into a fund to directly support the kids. He said a lot of the kids come from a very financially disadvantaged background. The school routinely buys basic necessities, including underwear, glasses, and other things most people take for granted. Mark was very enthusiastic about the donation and thought they could make it go a long way towards helping the kids.

I believe in the end we made a $1,340 contribution. The matching contribution from Romney Cycles was something I didn't know about until a few minutes before the drawing.

Great job everyone, I think we can all feel good that in addition to having a fantastic time riding the roads of West Virginia, we also made a positive impact on some kids that could really use the help. ::008::

Based on the number of people who said they wanted shirts Romney has estimated their costs to print and ship will be $20.

If you are interested in a 3rd annual Camp N Ride shirt call the Romney parts department and order your shirt by COB (5:00) next Friday. After all the orders are in they will get the ball rolling.

To those who have been wondering, I have heard from Ed (Whistler on Stromtrooper), our injured friend.

He tells me there are some current physical challenges he is experiencing, but his long term recovery expectation is positive.

Ed did want me to pass along his appreciation. The following was copied directly from Ed's note to me.

Please convey my deepest appreciation to everyone who played any part whatsoever
in my accident follow-up, clean-up, medevac, etc. I will eventually contact a
few more folks on a personal level, but want to ensure that EVERYBODY knows that
I am so greatly humbled by their kindness, compassion and brotherly concern. I
am truly blessed to count you and them as my extended family!

Best wishes to you, my friend. Looking forward to your speedy and complete recovery.

Awesome! Hope to be there (and contribute more) next year - I absolutely love contributions that have a direct and local (even if it's not my locale) impact. And big props to Romney for putting up matching $$ for their community!
