Been a while, so giving this a bump.

Now that you're about to flip the page on your 2013 calendar this is a reminder to pencil in a weekend in WV.

So far the plan is for two different group rides on Saturday. Checkswrecks will be leading a pavement oriented ride highlighting some of the great roads around the area. There's a lot of good twisty stuff around there. I'll be leading a dirt road oriented ride. All roads will be legal state roads, but not necessarily ones that see much if any maintenance. Roads will not be overly difficult, but could have some occasional minor rocky sections, mud puddles, minor water crossings, gravel, up and down switchbacks, and other features that can be easily traversed by a jeep.

Sounds great D-D, sorry I won't be there. But I will wear last years T-Shirt that weekend, and find some twisty roads, a pretty waitress, and a south american version of moonshine :D

I suspect there will be at least a toast or two in your honor. Whatever the beverage may be. ;)

Love to have you there, but it's fun to think of what you're doing without us.

thfraser - I seem to remember seeing some pretty dirty pics of your bike in the last few months. If I'm remembering correctly that might be hard to top.

twodogs - excellent...with any luck only Trevor will be missing from last year's crew. He's excused. Kookwink again?

I have it on my calendar.

Final decision for me will be sometime in April.
But I plan to be there.

Should be a blast. WV has the best riding in the east.

Shows all state and county roads. Yes, I'm splitting hairs, but that leaves bunches of roads these maps do not show. You can often pick up paper copies (~36"X48") of a given area at WVDOH district offices.
Jim,

I finally started using these maps prepping for the ride in May. As you said, I'm finding bunches of roads not here. Are all the missing roads private? The ones I'm not finding are too far out to be town roads, so not sure what else they would be.

I see WV is not just paving over everything down your way. I'm hoping this map is wrong in some places. If not, WV paved some great dirt roads up this way, too. Fortunately there's still a lot they haven't made hardtop yet.

8 weeks away. Looking forward to it, been working up some dirt I've never ridden before. I'll need to get out and pre-run some of the stuff.

We have over 30 people saying they might come. There is even one visitor from Canada planning on coming.

If we really do have over 30 people show up it will be beneficial to have some standby ride leaders ready to go. We have one standby leader so far, but if you know the area and/or are willing to plan out a route if needed, please let me know. Just PM me and we can discuss the particulars.

Not sure how many of the prospective riders will actually make it, but do want to be prepared if we have a huge turnout. Definitely looking like it will be bigger and better than last year. 8 more weeks.

Any camping fee or anything else involved with this event? Plus one is another bike.
No camping fees. Just come and setup in a large field near the rear of the dealership. The property is so large that most people visiting the dealership will never know we are back there.

Just shy of 40 in the "possible" headcount. I'll look to firm up the numbers in about two weeks.

I've spent the last two weekends researching my route. Will need to do an overnight in mid-April to workout the rest.

It's getting closer. Really looking forward to it.

I'll be pre-running a number of roads over the next weeks for the pavement set. While I've been in the area for some time, I'd still like to hear what people would and would not like to see.

Looks like I'll be tenting it in May.

Thanks
Bob

Just posted the official headcount thread. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=7769.0

Let's see how many from our list are still on board.

Checkswrecks and I are heading out this weekend to scout our respective rides. We'll be meeting up in the middle of WV to compare notes and ::003:: on Saturday night. The weather has finally turned in our favor. Really looking forward to the event.

Looks like I can make it at least for the day-ride on Saturday. I'm still on OEM Battlewings, so trails with big, nasty, pointy teeth ... or sand and mud .. are scary things yet :-\
