Random_Rockfish,

I'm picking up a "new for me" STen in NJ just east of Philly on Saturday. I've not heard any real complaints about the stock seat, but I put a Sargent on my FJ-09 and it saved my ass, literally, on trips longer than two hours. How does this one compare to stock, and why are you selling it in such great shape? Also, does it affect seat height?

It's about a two hour trip to Annapolis, which I haven't been to in quite a while, and If it's worth it, I'll head there after I get the bike.

Tom,

The stock seat was tilted toward the tank way too much so I got the Sargent. It solved the tilt problem (and does not alter the seat height positions) and provides much more width where it's needed. I have, however, a spinal arthritis/sciatica problem that is worsening and the Sargent is now too soft for my needs. I bought a Touratech (pricey!) since it is supposed to be a pretty firm seat and have been giving it a try. While it's not perfect, I can get more pain-free riding in now so I'm letting the Sargent go. I won't be available to meet up this Saturday but if you PM me we can discuss logistics if you're still interested.

Thanks!

I've never been able to understand the manufacturer's incessant desire to slide the rider towards the tank. It almost seems intentional. I really like the idea of the Sargent seat design. Let me get a few miles in on the stock seat and I'll be in touch.

My Sargent is vastly superior to the stock seat
