Well, I sold my 2018 Super Tenere today. After returning home from a three week trip last month, I decided that I wanted a lighter more off-road capable bike. I went down and bought a KTM 790 Adventure R. The 790 has been in and out of the dealer for issues ever since I purchased it! However I own it now and needed to get rid of the S10. I sold it to a buddy who I know will make good use of it. It was a bittersweet day none the less! I thought the 790 might be the unicorn of a bike I was looking for but with all the issues so far, I can't trust it for a long trip. I will keep it local until I can get rid of it and get something else. Can anyone say Africa Twin 850? Please Honda!!!
Sorry to hear about your issues.
Yes KTM, Harley Davidson and Ducati cycles are motorcycles to avoid due to higher incidences of reliability issues.
Presently, I have a 2018 ES and whilst I am very happy with it, I do find it a little bit heavy....so my next bike just might be the Africa Twin, because I owned a 2016 Africa Twin for two years and 30,000 km....no issues...great bike.
I might get a DCT model.

They are like a Yeti here in the US! I will definitely be considering one as soon as that mysterious beast shows itself!!! The only drawback, living in the US, is the T700's top end. We regularly ride open spaces were the posted speed limit is 80 mph and people run about 90 mph. I know the T700 will do it but how happy will it be doing it for hours straight??? Running those high RPMs might drive me crazy. The S10 was capable of cruising at 95mph for an hour straight, hypothetically of course.
Yup Super Tenere will run continously at 95 MPH, BUT, the fuel burn is very high, so don't expect a long range.

Well, after running out of fuel the other day with the gauge on my 790 reading half a tank and 80 miles to empty, I did some forum searching. I found out that due to the design of the 790 fuel tank having essentially a right and left tank, there is an equalization hose that runs between the right and left tank. Both tanks have a valve that hose connects too. If those valves are closed the fuel can not equalize. The fuel pump is in the left tank and the gauge is in the right tank. If the valve is off the left tank will run dry with the gauge still showing fuel since the right tank still has fuel in it. After making it home, i located the valve and found that the dealer forgot to open the valve after reinstalling the tank. This should explain why I ran out of fuel but still showed fuel on the gauge.

The engine hasn't had any problems so far other than the leaking seal around the countershaft. Fingers crossed the electronics are sorted out and I don't have any more problems.

I just bought a 2018 Wing with DCT, overall I like it but slow speed maneuvers are a bit odd and at times a clutch lever would be nice. I really doubt I would like it for any off pavement use. Just my .02 worth.

Agree, the DCT model of the Goldwing felt a little iffy when I did a demo ride last year.
I taxied slowly around the parking lot and found it strange to control at low speeds and had to control the speed with the rear brake which I found difficult to access and having my left foot at the ready to prevent a fall. When you are up and running the DCT is brilliant!
I'm hoping to test ride an Africa Twin in the DCT version.

The new Africa Twin is brilliant. Outstanding new design. I'm not a fan of the DCT, but happened across a AT/DCT rider at a Subway a few days ago. He told me you really have to set it up for the sportiest settings, but then he was quite happy with it.

I'm hoping for a demo ride on a DCT model Africa Twin. I had a 2016 clutch model, loved it!! The Tenere has a tiny bit more grunt, but due to the heavier weight of the Tenere performance is roughly the same.
The Africa Twin has more ground clearance, which is great, however riding on a windy day the Tenere wins. I like the shaft drive, cruise control and heated grips.
Aside from the weight of the Tenere, for what I do and where I ride, the Tenere (for now) does it for me. If I was younger, stronger and doing trails etc...Africa Twin.
General riding, highway cruising, no chain to mess with, I'll take a Tenere.
No bike fits all.

Nope. How about Yamaha Tenere T700?
