Hi, Today I check with a Yamaha in my country, S10 is out of stock now.. and the model is discontinue.. (We only applied Euro 4 standard, and we took all stock from Japan, so if we out of stock.. is mean global stock is either empty or very low)
So what next...

Most things are available in the us. However just a few months ago I am told by partizilla that a part is in stock. Then in an email that it's back ordered and when I request to cancel it. Its suddenly available two days later. For context I was ordering rear wheel bearing. I had a friend order a new rear non es stock and it took 3 months from partizilla and from from Japan.

why would you order bearings when you can go to your local bearing supplier and pick them up.....remember Yamaha don't make bearings....

I initially assumed the empty show rooms were because of covid interrupting the supply from Japan. But, my dealer says they can units. . . . they're just selling all of them. WTF? How/why do you buy a bike if you're not working, and can't go anywhere? And. . . . where are they riding? 'Cuz I'm not seeing them on the road. . . . and I ride every day.

True but it gives me extra protection in case something should go wrong. Again my parts issue is just an example of a backorder that probably doesn't exist.

k, but I suppose a discussion with Yamaha on bearing failure would be interesting, I get all my bearings and seals from my local supplier...all fully guaranteed, same bearings Yamaha would supply, Toyo + other makes, I won't waste money or time on ordering these products from Yamaha, esp, as I said, they don't make them, they just supply them...

Its not a discussion with yamaha it's with partizilla who's been around for years. Parts are not allowed to be directly sold to the consumer as per federal law. It must be sold through a 3 party vendor even if it's a dealership.

I turned up at a bike dealer in east London in early September to buy a new XT1200Z and he said he didn't think there were any about and logged on to his Yamaha website portal and it was showing zero stock for the 1200Z which is what I was after. He did some ringing around other dealers with possible stock the next day and reckons he found the last 2 available in southern England, one of which I now have.

i have used partzilla from here in NZ, You saying you cannot by bearings direct from an engineering supplier over there? remembering these bearings aren't actually specific to any make or model.....

If it is going to be discontinued, I would rush to buy the ones that are in stock. You will be able to ride for about 3 years, until the new one goes on sale, because if they present it this year, and knowing Yamaha, it will take about 3 years to put it on sale. And in those three years, the other brands will present BMW:1255, 1258, 1290 .....HONDA 1125, 1175,1205 .... DUCATI:1265, 1285,1299 ..... KTM:1295, 1301,1315:)
Not to mention that the SAS 1290 from DD, that he bought this year is going to be discontinued “this year”too :):). Factory is already rolling the new Super Adventure.

Yes, and it looks ugly as hell and has the type of cruise control i despise in cars. I feel like I got the last good year.
You're right. I don't know how that adaptive cruise control will work, when all the bugs and butterflies stick to the sensor:)

There are about 130 new Super Tenere listed on Cycletrader.com at the moment.
There are still lots of 2019 models and a couple of 2018 models that are listed for sale also. When Yamaha announces the 2021 models, if I don't like them I can pick up a new 2019-2020 model for a substantial discount. I don't believe for 1 second that Yamaha is discontinuing the S10. The adventure touring market is very popular and it would be a bad business move to just pull out of it. Even HD is entering the market.

I have a relationship with Polaris through the American Sand Association. They are seeing record breaking sales this year, since outdoor activities are one of the few things "allowed" during the pandemic. RV sales are also off the charts, since its basically a way to recreate with social distancing.
