I have a set of hard BUMOTs on mine. How is the soft luggage? Are they water proof or need an inner liner? How do they hold up to MUSKO?
They come with waterproof inner drybags, that are removable.
I have not taken the soft bags on a trip yet, so I can't answer the durability question yet.

The spoiler on your windscreen, where did you get that from? You satisfied?
Sorry for taking so long, the spoiler on my screen is a Laminar Lip for a Buell Ulysses. It fits very well and works well. However, thanks to this Forum, I have found what I think is the ultimate solution and after recommendations, I bought and fitted a Givi Aeroflot screen and it is brilliant!

Hi there! Wow so many posts it is almost difficult to follow ;)

I need racks + side panniers for my S10 2013.

Here are few requirements:

  • I need to be able to carry 2 rotopax (1 gallon model probably) on the racks + the sides panniers and be compatible together
  • Ideally i want good quality racks that will not dent/lose paint easily and will not rust
  • Ideally i would prefer SKB type panniers, not aluminium to avoid dents and scratches
  • Carry between 35-40L each
Any suggestions for this combo?

I'm still using the OEM panniers but because I have become more 'adventuresome' this year I have been leaving them at home most of the time. I don't want to risk damaging them as they are very expensive to replace.
Mosko Moto soft panniers are on my radar as a more durable solution in case I have an upset.

However, if your in the market for hard panniers, I doubt you will find anything more durable than Caribou Cases.

Looks fantastic, what about the side carrier, is it givi PL2119CAM?
I was gonna say no cause Yamaha uses equal 37L Trekker Outback panniers, where the PL2119CAM is designed for asymmetrical panniers. The pic above proves me wrong, rack looks the same as a PL2119CAM

What issues, if any, are common with the OEM side cases? Obviously, they’re not built like Jesse’s, but few are. Are the OEM side cases top-opening?

My current bike (not a Teneré) has bag guards. With an ST, if the bike goes over, are there armor options for the rear, or the bags just suck it up and take part of the load?

The OEM panniers look sleek, but aren't the best. There's no extra protection, but will do ok in a parking lot tip over.

On the positive side you don't have any racks when they're off, they're keyed to the ignition, and look good on the bike. They are top opening.

Negatives are they're fairly small ~30L, left side is especially useless at only about 6" wide (going from memory, could be wrong) internally at the bottom where it curves around the exhaust. I never checked, but pretty sure I could fit the same amount of real world stuff in one Trekker Outback 37L pannier as both OEM panniers. The locks are fiddly and known for twisting keys. Some people have broken the latches which are plastic. The frame is plastic with aluminum trim panels so not the strongest. There aren't any loops on the top for tying things to the lids.

If you get them with the bike, they're ok, but I definitely would not buy them or pay a premium for a bike with them. I used mine for a couple trips before getting Givi Trekker Outback's which cost a small fortune but had zero regrets after one trip.

The trekker outback’s look superb. Need to study up on what it takes to mount them. Thanks.
