Shoei Neotech II review

Lets just say the weather was nothing short of perfect for testing!! Howling winds and 100 - 110 degrees for almost 200 miles!! I basically did a 260+ mile morning to early afternoon loop around Temecula, Hemet, Anzo, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Morongo Valley and back home to Fullerton. Testing out my new Klim Badlands Pro riding gear. This stuff is fantastic!! You really get what you pay for. It is full on triple layer Gore Tex with D3O armor, and a bunch of zip open vents. At over 100 degrees I was very comfortable as long as the bike was rolling.

The Shoei Neotech 2 Helmet is the absolute most comfortable helmet I have ever slipped on my head. I have had dozens of full face helmets over the years. This one fits snug and squeezes my cheeks with zero pinching. Best of all you can flip up the chin bar to have a quick drink, snack, or chat. I also found myself really liking the drop smoke visor to block the sun from your eyes. It’s a all day wear helmet that cuts through the wind like a knife with zero head bobble. I had no fatigue whatsoever at the end of my ride.

Keep in mind while riding it's designed to be worn like a full face helmet. Walking around with the lid flipped up you feel the weight of it. Flipped down and riding, I don't know it's even there.

I want to give a very special thanks to my mother for begging me to wear a helmet when I was 19 years old. It was at a time we had no helmet law. I crashed hard and destroyed the helmet. It was a combination of my mother and a Shoei full face that saved my life. I have been wearing this brand and they’ve saved me more than once ever since. Thank you mom!! I love you…..

Good review, good back story, sounds like... a good helmet. Needs pics! Does this have double d-ring or some Euro clasp for a chin strap?

It’s a quick release. All metal. Fully adjustable. I’ll post some detailed pics in a day or two.

Exactly the kind of real world evaluation I was looking for, I guess a NeoTec II will soon be upon my noggin.
Just have to figure out which color.
Thanks!

It’s a fabulous helmet. The problem is
My head shape. I tried it to replace my first gen Schubert C3 that was falling apart (many, many thousands of perfect miles) and it did not fit my head. I ended up buying a HJC RpHA 90 and it’s so, so light. It’s also tremendously comfortable and well build (the chin strap - fast micrometer in Europe - is also metal) and it feels very solid. Did about 2000kms and it feels very nice.
