Guys ... I'm having one hell of a "luck" with my bike recently. First it was my OEM luggage carrier, now, I need more parts! I was riding over this past weekend and apparently there was a down power pole on a parallel road that I was riding. Well, the downed power pole apparently had some wires running across the road that I was riding. The line was drooping low enough to where my Madstadt windshield and my right mirror caught it & rippped them right off the bike, along with all that mounting brackets below and the broke the mounts on the headlight assembly. Soooooo, I'm hoping anyone have used have spare headlight assembly(2BS-84300-00-00, Stay-1/23P-28356-01-00 that they want to sell...that'dIMG_3313.jpg be fantastic!IMG_3306.jpg

I had the GoPro gunning and it recorded everything ... it was surprising/scray how fast all that materials got destroyed by the wire! I've totally been underestimating the stregth and the weight of those power lines up to now!

The road should have been shutdown with flagmen and cones. I did that kind of work for years. I smell a law suit. That wouldn't have happen here. DON'T LOSE THAT VIDEO. Take it to the sheriff department and see what they say. We had a bucket truck operator get out of the bucket with the boom still up. He forgot the boom was up and moved the truck. He broke off about 5 poles even with the ground.

Exactly what Tenman said. Almost 24 years in telecom and I've seen some stuff, but this should have never happened. There are general operating procedures for shutting down roads and setting up flags/flag men when operating overhead.
Glad you're okay, but I think you should be getting compensated for nearly losing your head... literally.

I'd say you're really lucky. I recall Steve McQueen unseating a Nazi motorcycle rider that was chasing him by runnning a line across the road in The Great Escape movie from the early 1960s, a truly great film if you've never seen it. that rider wasn't as lucky. Glad to hear you are okay, even if the bike isn't. Keep us posted on the settlement for bike damages, mental anguish and replacement underwear.

That wind screen mounting point is actually the front subframe, not something anybody will have laying around. A lot of them have been replaced over the years. They seem to be readily available through various distributors. Was the headlight assembly broken too? That's starting to get into some bux. Somebody owes you some funds.

I'd get a complete list of damaged items. Let a dealer do the inspect so you don't miss damaged parts. I'd then contact the company responsible for the lines. Request that they cover the repair cost. I've heard that if you don't go in there wanting tons of money, they're more likely to cooperate. Another option is contacting your insurance company. With the video backing your side of the story, they might actually do the work for you. Good luck.

Trust me guys, I have a much better respect for them power lines now! I have filed a claim with the power company & I'm sure they'll take their time reviewing it & attempt to avoid paying out anything. I've also got a video of the incident which I did not provide them, just still shots. I intend to approach a lawyer if the utility company refuse my claim then I'll see if I have grounds to go after them for much more.

Part sure the hell are costly! More than half the cost of the total damage was the headlight assembly...US$575.00! I mean mine still works fine, just the 2 mounting tabs that attaches the assemby to the subframe structure broke off. I searched for just the 'back-half' of the assembly, but no such luck. So, in the claim, I requested refund for the headlight assembly, subframe and the Madstad replacement shield since other parts were in good condition. I didn't even loose nut/bolts, fasteners, damper pads, they were all still attached to the broken pieces which I was able to recover!

We'll see how things go...
