Anyone tried the new 50s? I’m thinking of upgrading from my 20 evo but sena isn’t known for having the best product when released. They just got the bugs worked out of the 30k after several years on the market.

If otherwise happy with your 20 you could buy an adapter to connect into new 30k and 50s mesh network.

Guess I will be the guinea pig. I ordered one and it should be here Thursday. We are leaving on a group ride(11 days and around 3k miles) on June 22nd for the ma bdr. I will write a review when I get back.

How many in your Group ? I am a 20s EVO owner, it works great with my Zumo 595 when riding alone but it gets annoying when riding with others, the range is more like about half Or less than the 1.2 miles Sena claims and if someone starts talking the same time as the GPS that leads to even more trouble.

5 part way including myself, 4 the whole trip. And yes, the 20 works great for music, phone calls and intercom with another. Add the 3rd and it was always a pain.

I like to wear ear plugs when I ride and the sena20s evo that i have just about goes loud enough that I can hear my music and other users at 90mph with the ear plugs, I am seeing a lot of people state the evo50 doesn’t go as loud as the 20, so that is a big concern of mine, I also ride with my wife and daughters all on our own bikes and use the group intercom function, it sounds like that has disappeared on the 50 and you are perhaps limited to a max size of 3 or maybe 4 people? None of the documentation is very clear!! Trying to understand the diagrams on How the mesh system works is very challenging, does the mesh network still use Bluetooth? Some radio frequency, or is it using a gsm network? I figured I can sell my 20s for about $150 each, I can find the 50s online for under $300 so I effectively get $150 rebate and I can sell them when I want rather than having to do it during the Sena rebate period.. have had my Senas for many years (had the 10s prior to the 20s) but am still not that impressed with Sena, so will let more people try the 50s before I buy another 4..

I use ear buds so speaker volume is of little importance to me although the 50 has new speakers and is supposed to be better audio. In private mesh up to 24 people can connect and open mesh is more. The 50 has the ability to take a non mesh sena like the 20 and bridge it into mesh. Seems like a worthwhile upgrade for me. My biggest concern is most new release sena are very buggy. It took sena several years to get the 30 working right with updates.

Mesh is the way BT coms need to work... As you ride the Mesh system keeps comms optimised between your connected headsets no matter what order you initially connect them together or as you ride and you keep changing positions in the group.
If you use normal BT comms... you have to keep in the same order as you ride to get the the range from leader to last rider.

I don’t like how sena experiments on the public. We shell out the bucks and the kinda get it right down the road, Apparently Cardo Packtalk has gotten it right. I will wait for their answer to the 50k. I do like the speaker upgrade more base and louder, points for 50k. Lot of money and some of the early reviews have not been good. Bluetooth layering problems.

currently have a pair of 30k that have not Ben used more than a couple of times. So not in a hurry.
so is the 50 louder? The reports I read all said it was not as loud as the 20!! Sound quality is better with the 50, but people where stating that it doesn't go as loud!! The quality doesn't bother me much, but the loudness does!! I mainly use it to talk, not for music so quality is less critical, but I need to be able to hear everyone, wether I am riding my dirt bike (loud) or my road bike (noisy from the wind).

I rode for 2 hours today without my earbuds. I don't think it is as loud as the 20. It already has an update which I installed last night. Before updating, the app wouldn't connect to my iPhone and it wouldn't connect to the wifi adapter which is supposed to automatically update it as it charges. I had to install the update on my laptop. Typical buggy sena software. I haven't tried it since I updated.

Not exactly on topic but users of the Sena 20 & 30 units can now update their Mesh to version 2.0. This will make you compatible with the new 50 units using the Mesh mode.
I did the update as did a buddy of mine and we tried the Mesh 2.0 both using the Sena 30S units. It seemed to be a nice improvement with better clarity, no dropped connections and no garbled speech, also the range seemed a bit better.
I will be riding with a buddy that just picked up a Sena 50 in the next week or two. I'll give a report once we have tried them out. -JEP-

I have been super happy with Cardo Pack Talk, any time we had 3 or more on line with the Sena 20 there was some slight background noise.
