I've carried one of the Blue Seal Savers in the top of my tank bag for a long time. Went to use it a couple days ago and the thing cracked and broke in pieces while inserting it in the seal. Fortunately no pieces ended up past the seal, as that would have been a pain to clean out. I suspect it deteriorated from UV exposure, or simply got old. I finished the job with one made from a milk jug. No more name brands for me, I will carry a couple of my homemade ones from now on.

Good caution. I've never actually owned one of those. I have been known to sacrifice a Solo cup when the occasion calls for it.

The year that I needed one my partner going to AK stopped at Yuko Yamaha and bought a new one. We didn't make Deadhorse but did get over Atigun Pass ( Snowing, 32 Deg with a 15 Deg chill Factor in Deadhorse) once we got back to Fairbanks both bike's were leaking. We carry enough tools that we were able to pull the fenders and drop the dust cover and run the seal mate around the seals. We made it home with out either bike leaking a drop.
I'm cheap I like the idea of the plastic milk carton, just carry something!

I battled constant weeping seals until I got shock sox. Never had another weep. I ran them woods racing and they dramatically increased my fork seal life there too. There's no telling how many fork seals we replaced before we found out how to clean them.

I had a couple of those seal savers in my tool box for several years before using one recently to fix a weepy seal. It wasn’t brittle or anything. They were kept inside a closed tool box away from UV light though.

I've never bought one of those, have old film negatives here in the shop that I use. On the road if I need something to clean the seals I have used business cards, plastic bottles cut into a convenient shape, masking tape wrapped around the fork/then bounce the fork seal over the taped off area. I'd say over the years it has worked 90% of the time to stop or at the very least slow down the leaking.

This is by far the best unit out there.

Have had mine for years. Around $20 now I think. I keep it in the tool box for my dirt bikes where it gets used often. I don't carry it when traveling on the Tenere though. Instead I carry and use the pick end of these disposable floss tools.

Always have a fresh supply so no worries about plastic degradation.

Plus you can get that meat out of your teeth. It is the other end after all!
