OK lads, I've received the first recall notice today. It's associated with the XT's tail rack.

Their words:

" ...we regret to announce that the factory has identified a potential defect with your machine, whereby if ridden with either the Yamaha Genuine Accessory Aluminium Top Case or a similar After-Market product fitted, the Base Box may develop a crack and eventually break, potentially causing the Top Case to become completely detached and fall from the machine".

Eeeeeek! Oh yeah I don't got one ... phew. ;D

Still it's gotta go and get the mod done to the rack.

I'm assuming it's the fixed rack/base plate that the bike comes with. It's a big ol' chunk of engineered plastic. I'll let ya know real soon as mine has been registered for replacement ... just waiting for the part to arrive.

Last week i called Yamaha Belgium and they told me that distribution of the top case would be continued very soon and only a minor adjustment would be needed to the base plate. Let's wait and see...........again !!!

Hi guys. New here.

Interesting that this came up on the Tenere. I recently received a recall notice for my DL1000 Side Case Hardware (only if OEM). Luckily I have Givi.

Hi guys!
I've got my new ST last Tuesday!
Here in Italy the same recall campaign. I'm waiting to receive an official recall from Yamaha. Other owners have begun to receive in these days.
