Hi there,
First post - on behalf of a friend who has a broken fuel level potentiometer board in his S10 - I think he broke it while getting pump assy out to clean filter....
We are looking for a replacement board if this can be found, or a pump assembly at a reasonable cost, from a crashed bike for example.
Location is Dublin, Ireland.
Any advice on where this part might be sourced will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Laurence

Hi Laurence, I think your friend may have to look for a complete pump assembly, I can’t point you in the right direction but hopefully someone else will be along soon to help. I know one or two of our American cousins have broken bikes recently but the cost may be prohibitive to send. Good luck!

Good luck with the hunt for a replacement. As an aside, are you, (and your friend), aware that the pump comes apart into two pieces to remove it more easily from the tank?

@Laurence - Your friend might consider buying a used fuel pump from a different Yamaha and scavenging the parts to repair his pump assy. Here is one from a Divy that looks similar, though I'd ask for more pictures of the sending unit area first. LINK £77.00 plus post. Another from a Fazer that also looks similar. LINK2 A wrecker might have a damaged fuel pump from a S10 that they would let go cheap too. Worth some calls.

Is there a DIY somewhere for the fuel pump splitting in two for removal?

It's self explanatory when you look at the pump. Just some small tabs to release, (3 or 4). I think someone posted a pictorial or pictures of it apart. I always separate the pump halves when removing the pump from the tank on the S10. The FJR was the same, but that pump was easier to remove from the tank w/o separating the halves.

OX-34 posted another method HERE with pics.

I had an issue with one of my V Strom pumps many years ago...clogged filter..& not many Strom pumps out there for a reasonable cost. I was able to source a low cost wrecked GSXR pump that fit...only needing the sender switched to the Strom unit.

Meaning....parts have to be somewhat interchangeable between models to keep the mfg cost down.

Great advice!
It looks like the board from an FZ6 and maybe FJR would fit, so I'll suggest that he phones the breakers to see what is available from other models, not alone the S10..
Thanks guys!
