Socially Acceptable Distance camping. I'm going next week. The Moki Dugway is a fun road/area in southern Utah (near Bluff, Utah). At the top of the Moki there is a sign "Muley Point" that road is 5 miles to the end; I'll be somewhere near the end with tent, bike, and a relaxed look on my face. Join me if you want. Temps next week in that area should be in the high 80s

With humidity levels in the low teens, probably. I lived in Page AZ when I was much younger. I love northern AZ & southern UT. From what I remember, the road up Navajo Mountain would be great on a Tenere. It was rough in a '72 Volvo wagon.

and if a few friends show up all the better.
I should have mentioned, in case any friends do show up, the closest store and water is 12 miles away.
I would have picked an out of Utah location, but didn't want to go through the re-entry hassle that is currently required at the Utah border.

Weather is supposed to be warmer, hot even. I’m thinking about this. I want to ride the ferry at lake Powell with my bike. I think it’s all closed up right now.

The bad news is yes, unfortunately its closed until May 16, the good news is the other route, SR 95, is an incredible road!

Mak 10, if you want a ferry ride try riding up to Bonners Ferry and camp there it's a great town. Then go up Hwy 3A in BC and take the free ferry over to Nelson and loop back to Bonners Ferry, ID. Several loop rides worth anyones time can be done from Bonners Ferry. No idea about the off road riding but your wife would enjoy that outing.

Mexican take-out last night and now I'm feeling a bit 'unsettled'....
It looks like no one else is joining me, so if I do go camping it'll be somewhere closer to home. I do have the bike nearly all packed and ready to go, maybe I'll be all Sunshiny in the morning. Hoo boy.....

Whaaaat? There's a ferry on Lake Powell? From where-to-where? I've never heard of it before.
Me either. The only Ferry I know of around there is below Lake Powell. It's called "Pearce Ferry". Not really a ferry but a drop off point to the Grand Canyon rapids.

Lees Ferry is a somewhat rustic, but nice place to stay, however there is no ferry. Just gas, lodging and food. Oh and fishing guides, etc
The ferry that goes across Lake Powell is from Bull Frog Basin to Halls Crossing, it takes just about 1/2 hour. I've done it at least 4 times and enjoyed each time.

I'm definitely not leaving tomorrow, but I hope to go soon. I've been watching your 'scouting' trips with great interest!
