Hi all . I've used the search function but could find an answer. When cruising at around 50 to 70 kmph in say 4 or 5 th gear the bike feels as though it's hunting and it surges and stalls constantly ( just slightly) . I'm neither rolling on or rolling off the throttle . This is my first efi bike and I'm use to carbs. My TRX 850 cruises smoother than my Tenere so surely there is something wrong !?? It's a 2010 model with 74 k km. I haven't changed the plugs yet and I will in a few days . Just thought I'd run this qstn to you guys who may have a suggestion of what to check apart from plugs.
Thanks in advance
G

Except for the stalling, it sounds like the normal "twitchy throttle" complaint. Lower gears, and higher rpms makes it more apparent. Shift to 6th and see if it smooths out. If not, it may be time synch the throttle bodies.

Sorry stalling was not the best description. I meant it's like miss , slight acceleration on off on off and so on until I either roll on or roll off the throttle. It does not do it at highway speed or 5/6th gear

Probably makes sense to eliminate the basics before getting too much into this. New air filter and plugs, checking the condition of the coils whilst doing the plugs. As WJB has suggested, water ingress to the coil/plug wells, particularly wells 1&2, are a potential issue. While under the airbox, you can check everything is connected as it should be.

Thank you. I've borrowed a vaccume gauge and have plugs and air filter ordered. I'll get busy and do the basics first and go from there. Thank you all for your quick replies

Check this thread out for 1st Gen bikes regarding the throttle position sensor and how to cycle/clean it. This did clean up the jerkiness on my 12 and 13 bikes.
