I hate my job.

The CEO comes into my cave today and instructs me to attend the Calgary Stampede in July.
It appears we are opening a new location in Calgary and since I am the appointed corporate redneck, it is only appropriate that I represent.
I asked what is the schedule? He says to look it up and let him know and he will see if he can get a jet.

I then looked up what the hell is the Calgary Stampede?

Oh, I get it now. It's a rodeo thing and because I sponsor kids in the local FFA and dress like everyday is go rodeo day...........

A quick text to the boss asking "don't need a jet. You care how I get there?"

He replies "you're crazy. You thinking of riding you're motosickle, ain't ya?"

Smiley face reply back.

"Have fun. Don't die" was final response.

Quick call to the wife........(can you get off July 6 - July 21)

So, Santa Fe NM for some food and culture.
Yellowstone because it is Yellowstone
BitterRoot because you can't miss this pass if your going north
Glacier National Park because I promised myself I would someday
Rodeo Canada style, because I have orders.

You guys will all be gone long before, but gotta go do Imogene Pass on the return.

Tough mission. But I'm just that kind of guy. I'm stepping up for the company.

Two up then?
Don't worry Calgary is full of rednecks,
You'll fit right in.

Lots of 'mericans come up for the stampede
Great excuse to skip work, go drinking
And get paid for it

Beartooth pass is what I meant when I said Bitterroot. I won't miss it!

Sounds like a great trip and a chance for you and your wife to see a lot of country.

Would have liked to be able to have met you in Colorado with the other Tenere guys but looks like you had one tossed at you that not many could pass up. ::008::

You both have a safe fun trip.

Ride report ................ ::017::

You are too kind. I'll see what's available. :)

Since you already in Canada, I suspect it will be a short flight. So we don't need a bird with a toilet. Right?

I like how you think Combo.

Actually, we are\were all signed up for the Colorado event. Then 2 days ago her boss told her that no June vacations were being allowed.
She was fit to be tied. Been married 31 years and she has worked at the hospital for 24 of those. I never seen her so hot. She threatened to quit.

I had to calm her down. Reminded her that we are blessed and will make up for it sooner or later.

I hadn't even canceled my reservations or notified this forum.

Then today happened. :)

She's ecstatic! And I look like a wise man.

But I've been mulling the whole thing over. Maybe I can do both?
Ride to the Tenere event. Then on the ending weekend ride down to Albuquerque. Fly home cheap. Leave bike.
Work the week of July 4th.
Fly back to Albuquerque with the wife the following week. Get bike. Start (continue) the journey to Calgary.

Twice (3 times actually) in Ouray. First time solo playing down n dirty. Second time romantic version. 2-up.

Hmmmmmm. Flights are $137 from Hou to Abq. Can't get gas, Best Western, and eat for $137

And that cuts the 900 mile flat leg outta the route for the missus.

I think this might work!

By the way Combo,

It would be hilarious if we finally met in Colorado. Think about it. We meet 1500 miles from home.

I did see you ride by Joes BBq one Sunday afternoon. It was raining and I think it was you. Blue Tenere. Yamaha luggage.
There weren't many Teneres back then.

That's funny and that was me delivering a deer to my Daughter and son-in-law. I had it all packed in my Yamaha boxes. I think I saw you about 6 months ago on business 35 & 6 in Alvin at around 4 or 5pm one day. You were going south on 35 and I was in my F-350 that day. My Yamaha dealer also saw you with your gun case shocks not long ago.

Looks like we will have a near miss over a 1000 miles from home. On the way back home from Colorado we will be just south-east of Santa Fe, NM. at the KOA between 6-29 and leaving for home 7-5 when you are heading up.

Wait.................A near miss is a hit isn't it. ???

Kudos to Bobby J's Yamaha in Albuquerque.

I can ride down to their place on Saturday, after the Ouray event, and they will keep my horse in a stall while I fly home to work the July 4th week.
Then me and the missus fly back up and pick the Beast up. And head up the Rockies-Tetons-Bitteroots all the way to the Stampede.

Basically, a real slow take your time week long oil change. :)
Nice folks it seems.

So you ARE coming to CO in June right?

We need as many XT1200ZR's as possible to show up at the rally.
