Traveling west on I40 on a cross country trip, Florida to Seattle via Death Valley, and the battery on my S10 is not liking the cold weather. Hot restarts are weak and I’m sure tomorrow morning will require another jump start. It was near 30F last night and that did not help.

Looking for a dealer in or near Albuquerque that may carry the yuasa 14ah battery.

Original route was up 550 to Durango and then west to Cortez and Utah points beyond. Not a good route with a battery crapping itself.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Randy

Quick google search shows most power sports dealers near you won’t open until tuesday. Davis in Montrose,CO is a great S-10 dealer and most likely would have one but they’re about 320 miles north of you using part of your planned route. Maybe get one of those small jump start boxes to carry with you until you can get a battery?

I had the same problem coming home from Stagecoach last December. If you can’t locate a battery (and The Battery Store might have one) pick up a power pack with jumper cables which you can get at most automotive stores or Walmart’s which should keep you running until you can locate a battery.
Hope this helps. -JEP-

I'm in Rio Rancho, not far from 550. I can do a search and let you know what I find.
I also have the battery from my S10, if you want, you can have it, my S10 is not running having recently just being recovered from a theft.
Not sure where you are currently at, but I will be home by 3pm today.

Good luck and I can't add more than what you have from others. Leave the side cover off for ease of access.

In these situations it'd be good to not turn the bike off while refueling but of course it requires the key to open the cap. I've got a keyless cap to go on my fabricated large tank to solve that problem.

There's a few Botteries Plus in New Mexico. I've had good luck finding batteries with them. https://www.batteriesplus.com/store-locator/nm

Thanks for the replies. I did pick up a jump battery at advanced auto and will see if I need it this morning. Appreciate the offer of your battery, but I pushed on to Gallup last nite after my target state park for camping was closed.

It was ‘only’ 35 last nite, so maybe it will fire up. Have the booster now, so there is hope. Just kinda sucks as I was planning on some remote riding, but that may be out the window for now.

I’ll probably roll thru Vegas on Tuesday and I’m sure I can have better luck sourcing a replacement battery.

Awesome! I’ll give them a shout this morning in Farmington.

Thank you!
If you can order it online and pick up in store, they have a 15% coupon code. it should pop up when you go to the main BatteriesPlus.com page

A big thanks to all for your input on my battery issue. Made it to Seattle with little fanfare from the battery other than barely starting on numerous occasions.

Did pick up a battery from Batteries Plus with an accompanying Nick booster to which I wired in during the battery install. Should be better prepared for those cold morning starts now.

Appreciate this forum and it’s active members.

Cheers,
Randy
