Network news stated Denver has the second worse air quality in the world as result of the wildfires.

First I think all of our hearts collectively go out to California residents that are losing homes.

RIDE SUGGESTION:

You can still ride southern Colorado (depending on wind patterns) and northern NM. I would suggest staying in Red River, NM and ride out of there for two days. We were able to get reservations on short notice at a Best Western for $140 a night. This is a Texan haunt and as such the food needs to be good and plentiful. I would recommend Shot Gun Willies for Breakfast $10 includes coffee, also the Brewery Cafe on main that has great food and beer.

Suggest you look at national wildfire map before you head out.

New Mexico still has a 14 day quarantine in place through August 28 for all who enter the state. Probably will be extended.

Search New Mexico travel restrictions. I was planning on a trip to NM also until I became aware of this.

I just got back from Colorado yesterday.
Rode from KY to Trinidad State Park. From there over to hwy 149 up thru Lake City and over to Ouray for 3 days.
Did the Million Dollar hwy, Rode to Telluride and down 145.
Rode from Ouray over to Gunnison up to Taylor Reservoir and over Cottonwood Pass. Stayed at Muller State Park then headed back to KY
Had a great time, no issues, it was smoky a few days because of the fires. 9 days and 3600 miles.
Mask are required every where in CO and had to wait a few times to get in a restaurant but it really wasn't a big issue for me.
