Lynne and I plan to join the adventure. Camping at the river, yes...I have not reserved a site as yet, thinking of sharing?
Friday and Saturday nights. May make Alamo Springs for lunch on Friday, not sure yet...

I'll go and will bring my wife. Won't stay at the park though. Would still want to meet in the mornings and hopefully follow someone.
Looking forward to it! ::001::

the Austin stations are saying that the rain event may produce up to 2 inches rain for some areas Thursday through Saturday. don't look at weather channel forecast , you will want to build an ark. carrot and myself are riding together and not knowing how the weather will present itself are planning on going but may be delayed (its about being safe) a little rain want hurt but I don't like lightning . we are fairly determined ( about an easy 2 hour ride from Buda.) but we are not ashamed if it takes us all day . hasn't rained in months, camping is almost a guaranteed rain maker add a motorcycle... couldn't make it worse if I cut the grass and washed my car. but we are not giving up...just so every one knows we are planning on being there Thursday , one day early. may be one day late. hey the positive is we get to try out our rain gear, see if our tents will keep us dry ,how do our tires really like the wet, ever day will be a bad hair day( we wear helmets not really an issue) may turn into a adventure yet. but getting hurt is not an adventure ,it is pain and expense . so those who do ride, ride carefully , and hope it doesn't rain enough to cancel.

Keep us updated on the local rain on Thursday if you can. As much as we like to camp, camping in the rain is not so much fun. Riding twisties in the rain is possible, have done the three sisters when wet, but also not so much fun. We plan to reserve the decision until later in the week.

Well for me plan But consists of staying home and staying safe and dry. Not afraid of rain, but don't like riding or camping in gully washers. If I don't go, there will be an available spot at the riverside camping area.

ok, just so everyone knows I was feeling the moment. all the things I said are true, but in reality if its going to be bad and miserable we (carrot and myself) will probably stay home. you just can not predict how the rain event will present its self . and in that I mean is it going to be off and on rain, bands of showers or the broad winter type with no end in site. we reserved a site for Thursday Friday and Saturday nights , and hate to throw money away but 45 dollars is not that much. but we are also trying to remain open to our options and will make a decision on Thursday morning about Thursday, and if that don't work we will make a choice on Friday morning etc. 60 percent chance of rain means that rain may fall in that percentage of the area. it doesn't mean it will rain all day, but it could. I think plan B is to B safe and hope the weather people are wrong again. we should know a lot by Wednesday evening ,that's when they say we may start seeing that rain and we will know what form its going to take . hell what do I know professional weather people cant get it right.

been in drought for months, reserved my spot on the river months ago.... what can you do... ive not cancelled my reservations I may go in my truck... already paid for site .... camping is camping and if it gets real bad I can retreat to the z71... more fun if I took bike but to many unknowns... not that far from buda , so I may be trucking it... if I had a small trailer I would drag bike along just in case(I have an 18 footer, to long to drag around park) good try mr. keith, at least lunch in Winchester worked out(don't think they burned down from the fires)...

That sucks paying $20 (48 hr cancellation) or losing all your reservation money if within 48 hrs. For a park with camping that is crazy. They know many of their guests are weather dependant and 48 hrs is a crap shoot in Texas.

Parks refund policy is clearly stated though. However I like others never read the fine print. I do usually ask about the cancellation window when making reservations.

So I was able to call and get in touch with the parks dept about a refund. They were going to charge 20 to cancel but I was offered the opportunity to have my 30 dollars applied to my "house account" for use at a later date. At the very least I didn't lose any money and it didn't cost me anything to so other than a phone call.
