Has any of the moderators considered deleting old "sold" items from the list?

If you want to add to our work load, you'll need to pay us more.
;)

Ummm - With 126 pages of existing material, I'll kill some on a get-to-it basis but don't expect heavy cleaning.
Thanks

It helps a lot when the seller simply edits the subject line of the thread with "SOLD". Many will post in the thread that the item has sold, but by the time you've read that, you already looked at the whole thread, in some cases.

Agreed. If we see the SOLD it'll help us to spot one to delete.

That said, I spotted a recent thread about shock springs that has some good reference material so left it.

I've come across a few threads where the seller has sold int he final post, so I have on occasion added SOLD to the title...

I've deleted a few, but AndyLaser had a good point and think I'll just do the same as AvGeek from now on.

So how do you go about seeing the old for sale posts ? All I ever see is the first 10 for sale posts ? If it makes any difference I happen to use an iPad .

As adults on a grown up forum, we should be responsible for amending the for sale posts after an item has been sold, just write SOLD, see, it really is that easy!! Unless of course if you are too busy running some major multi-billion $ corp ::010:: In which case get your PA to do it.

Possibly a couple of issues; You have to be logged in to see for sale part of the forum, so if you were not logged in, you might have just been seeing a cashed page. Second, there are multiple pages in the for sale forum, so if your iPad is not showing the complete page, or cutting it off at the bottom, you might not have a way to select the next page. I see this happen on phones sometimes where it's sometimes not possible to scroll if the phone is using the web version instead of an app version of a site, (like tapatalk).

I do use tapatalk sometimes for another forum and other than the ease of posting pictures I really don't care for it.
But after your tip I tried to signup the Tenere forum to tapatalk, I could not get it to work site says something like the Tenere forum does not allow new members.

I just added SOLD to an item that I sold... and noticed that for the board, you can't remove your own posts.

So, perhaps that is an option the forum should enable so users can delete/remove their posts when an item sells. Might look a little odd if other posts are their w/o the original though. While there is some argument to having the historical record of prices, It would tidy up the forum thread a lot if when the OP deleted/removed his post in the for sale section, the entire thread for that item also disappeared.

Just a thought. :)

Deleting posts and threads doesnt really accomplish anything. Adding SOLD to the title is probably the easiest option and also nice and clear to other readers.

For what it's worth, I agree with Andylaser. There are a ton of posts worthy of deletion outside of the For Sale list. Slippery slope for the mods I would think. Better to just leave the complete historical record. People can delete their own posts if they so choose, but otherwise I say leave it alone unless a post violates forum rules.

Well, that was sort of my point, you can't delete your own posts in the for sale part of the forum.

Once a thread has a reply, the OP cannot delete it, only a moderator can. This is a common feature on most forum software packages.

Not through Tapatalk. I have the app but don't use it. I'll research what is going on there, it may be that Venture has blocked new members altogether on that app due to the spam we were getting earlier.
