Looks like the ignition coils are in spec...manual says primary range is 1.19-1.61 and the secondary range is 8.5-11.5k.

Haven’t pulled the lil cover off the TPS yet as I need to get some security bits that’ll fit but I will be doing that before I put it all back together.

Realized today you don’t need to remove the lil cover in order to exercise the linkage. So I cycled that linkage a few hundred times along with lubing up the pivot points and return springs.

Going to do a little more fiddling around in the throttle body area looking for shorts or pinched wires before putting it all back together. I’ll also double check the spark plugs but they’re new iridium CR8EIX plugs with less than 1000 miles on them since I installed them. Lastly I’ll redo my sync just in case I stirred something up while troubleshooting.

So just an update here. I had no luck with the TPS linkage exercise. Same results...almost constant miss under 2000 RPM. Rechecked the coil sticks again, and again they ohmed out good, both primary and secondary.

Now I’m not a fan of shotgunning parts at a problem but I’m also not a fan of not being able to ride my S10...(however I was getting to spend some quality riding time with my trusty old KLR).

After reading many threads here and across on ADV I agreed with those here that mentioned that it sounded like a coil problem. So I bit the VERY EXPENSIVE BULLET and bought 4 OEM coil sticks for $400 not wanting to fool around any more. Like magic, it ran perfectly. No miss, no stutter, no hesitation just smooth full on power from idle to whatever RPM I wanted. All is right in the world again!

Thank you all very much for all the ideas and comments, suggestions and links. In the end, I know more about my S10 now than I ever would have had I just taken it in for a fix.
