Definitely very decent on wet. Best I’ve had - a lot better than OEM Bridgestone or Metzeler. And rear Scorpion Trail II lasted +11000 miles (all motorway).

Now my rear is an older Scorpion Trail I (one) manufactured 2015 - and it’s terrible on wet. And after 3k miles looks like new, that thing just doesn’t wear out.

I’ve been a Michelinman for about 10 years, tried Anakees when I had a BMW R1150GS, then PR3 on my Buell Ulysses before PR3 then PR4s on two Honda ST1300s and PR4s on my Kawasaki Versys 1000.

I reckon I have 2000 - 3000 miles left on the Bridgestones on my SuperTen but as 99% of my riding is on tarmac so now I am wondering whether to go for PR5s or the Metzler 01 Roadtecs. Continental Evo2 s are a left-field outsider but I’d be happy to listen to recommendations from anyone who has used the tyres on my short-list.

Trailsmarts look like paved roads only.

I tend to agree, but one of the articles I saw tried rating it as a 70/30 tire. My opinion is that it's a 90/10 tire. I'm hoping Fennellg keeps us updated. I like the looks of them. They LOOK like they would give good grip all the way to the sidewall.

Had the Trailsmarts on my KLR, great street tire but I wouldn't wander much past gravel/hard-packed dry dirt with them......definitely in the 90/10 realm, about same off road capability as the stock Battle Wings.

The 705 shinko will do at least 3500 miles and is supurb in wet conditions. Does well on dirt roads. I will always use them for general use. They have exceeded my expectations from the start. Just had one mounted for $125 plus tax. That will do me until August when i need to find a tire for my 6000 mile trip down the Left coast. Then i will remount a 705.

Update on the Bridgestone A-41. They started out good. The first front tire that I've ever had get a puncture. Patch/plugged the hole, and have had no issues for 7K-ish miles. These are also the first set of tires that the front has worn out before the rear. I normally wear out two rears for every one front. The front wear bars are even with the tread, and there's mild cupping. The pictures don't really show it, but it is very easy to see where the hard center compound meets the softer side compounds.

My personal opinion is that the accelerated front tire wear is due to the combined weight of the bike, and I, and heavy braking. I think the tires would be fine for smaller/lighter bikes. I can only imagine how fast they would wear if the bike was loaded heavy with two passengers.

My next set of tires is going to be a set of Dunlop Roadsmarts. I'll see how those hold up.

Interesting disparity in wear there, Sierra1. Not knowing the variables it resembles my forward/forward wear when keeping the suspension favoring hardness for long overland use.

I have had my oem tires replaced yesterday with Continental trai attack 3.
Mine too were to be replaced both, front and rear...
I am very very skinny ( must be an awesome bike if someone as skinny as me is able to ride it easily. ...).
I only ride with the trunk fitted and rarely 2 up...

Well, this is a follow up to my original post. I underestimated the life left in the Bridgestone A41s and they took me to Holland, Germany and Poland, a trip of just over 2200 miles and they gave me just over 8000 miles in total before the rear was getting close to the wear bars in the tread although the front had plenty of rubber left. I decided to stay with what I knew and had a pair of Michelin PR5 Trails fitted and I have been very happy with them. I am getting about 8000 miles from the rear while the front has almost double that so 1 rear to 2 fronts is pretty much what I am getting. The Michelin’s have been brilliant in wet and the occasional dry day we get here in Wales and I can’t see me wanting to change to any other brand any time soon.

Did I read this wrong? Are you getting 16k miles out of the front? Which would then be 2 rears tires for every front?

I just mounted Conti’s TKC 70’s. I’ve only run a tank full on them but really like them so far.
Rebates being offered too along with a couple of others.

I have read reports of the front scalloping but I’ve had good luck with varying the psi to manage this on other tires, we’ll see on these.

I also had scalloping too, and look from shocks, bearings, tire pressure on the high side too and still had it.
Regards.

Yes, my fronts are lasting much longer than the rears.
I'm like most and seem to be the other way around, the fronts wear faster than the rear which although not worn out is squared off enough to warrant changing the pair, I have to say it was the same on my V-strom.
