Anyone fitted one of these guards to their S10? The kind of guards GS's have behind there rear wheel. Seen one listed on EBay but not come across another brand or even seen a photo elsewhere on the net of one fitted to the S10. My mate on his Beemer says his works well so thought it might be practical for the S10 keeping the rear a little cleaner when the roads are wet and slimey. Already have a hugger so was looking to add a splash guard in addition.

yeah, managed to get hold & install them just bef the monsoon season in my sunny island this time round.

did avert some of the road grime away from the rear sub-frame & suspension.

but IMO, I dont recommend for offroad.

the hugger is considerable okay if you're without H&B/DS's rear brake cylinder protector & ideally, with a firmer rear suspension to prevent banging onto the sub-frame.

for the splash guard, the bracket is firm yet malleable but, as since there is only a single mounting point from the rear swingarm, it tends to vibrate a lot when on the move.

will be giving feedback to the makers for future considerations.

Well, let us know how you like it. I think it's fugly and it's one more thing to have to remove when you're pulling the tire. We have a GSA in the garage and this thing annoys me every time I have to remove it. If you don't go thru tires that often, it's less of an issue. You could always try some of that hygrophobic spray coating to keep the spooge from sticking to the bike. LINK

initially I find them fugly too.
in fact, I got & install the hugger first bef deciding to pull the trigger on the splash guard.
end of the day, it looks not bad afterall.

pros & cons for both IMO.
does keeps the splashing down than all over.
but when the wet dries off, the dirt & grime is all over the guards..

needs time & TLC to maintain the hydrophobic coating though..

& yes, a hassle when pulling the tire but its an investment Im willing to go through. ;)

I am.

Except the UK guys have salt with their dirt, which poses more problems. ACF-50 or Boeshield.
oya.. is because to deter the winter ice?

Just shut up and take my money !!!

All good info guys. I'll start, I'll deffo not be adding a beak lol. I live in the UK so whilst I can live with a dirty bike it's the Winter salt used as mentioned that's mixed into the slimey grimey road spray that's flung up and under the seat area that I thought/hoped it might help with. Not too concerned with maintenance issues or the off-roading side as I do little of each. While I'm trying to be practical I'd hope it don't look to bad in the flesh on the S10. I personally quite like my mates rear guard on his GS. I'll take a look at the rear fender extender Bimota mentioned too. Started using Acf-50 only recently but if ya can stop some of the shite covering the bike in the first place it's not a bad thing.

Great an owner and with a pic too. What's the build quality like pal? Is the steel arm holding out ok?.. Paint? Rust? You wouldn't happen to have a side pic of the mounted guard but from further back so I could see how it looks on the S10?

Hi Bimota, Looking at your pictures it looks like in the 3rd one the extenter might be held on with self tapping screws, our might there be some sort of sticky tape, perhaps both. If so was it supplied with them ? cheers mate.
