I did this yesterday for the Front Wheel Removal and Replacement Pictorial thread started by Twisties,
so here is one for the rear wheel.

Years ago, I had copied this to a MS Word document so I could print it and edit it as needed.
I saved my version of Twisties procedure as a pdf so I could post it here.

Thanks again for posting these. Ive done the job a few times now. Just did another set of tires today. Super handy posts! Ive referenced these a few times to get the torque specs readily.

I would add a step that makes it much easier on rear install. I first slip left side shaft splines and hub side of rear wheel in and slightly jack up the front of the skid (just enough to put slight pressure to hold wheel straight against hub splines) and makes fiddling with abs plate in and caliper carrier on a much easier deal. Also keeps the wheel fighting you and trying to slip out back out off splines.

Putting the bike in gear also helps engage the splines and final drive……good idea on jacking up the front end.

Yes, but won't help with the scenario on install. This is prior to axle install, no difference whether neutral or in gear.

I was referring to that awkward time prior to slipping the axle shaft in on right side. That cussing point when juggling the abs plate, caliper carrier, washer and keeping the wheel aligned at same time as trying to slide in axle shaft. In gear doesn't help there, but a slight lift on the front with a jack while on centerstand with the left side slipped in the diff centers the wheel in swingarm, at the right height and keeps it tucked in on the left without falling back out. Keeps hands free to work everything else in place and slide the axle shaft in EZPZ.

I already have a jack under to raise the front for the front r&r (I do tires as sets). These bikes can be kinda pain in the neck for rear tires IMHO. This trick makes it a breeze.

I think I understand what you’ve typed but not positive. Id love to see a video on this but I realize that’s asking a lot.

Download the pdf from post 141. The pics are in it along with the good description on how to. Sparrowhawkxx did us all a good turn preserving this one.
