I took the wife's Fazer 600 out for a spin yesterday. Riding something else makes you realise just how good the S10 really is.

The wind noise was horrendous even with my custom earplugs in, I'm not going to lie, having airflow into my lid and slightly unzipped jacket was nice but as for the rest of it, no thanks.

I've put it back in the garage where it'll stay until its MOT is due next year!

I had one of these Fazers in 2002, great little bikes but I agree, you don’t realise how good the S10 is until you ride something else. Having said that, you’re wife’s Fazer looks lovely!

The poor thing doesn't get used anymore, its done (wait for it) 455 in the past 7yrs! If anyone asks I now say my wife owns a bike lol.

I tried starting it a couple of months back but the carbs were clogged, I rebuilt them and it fired right up, the plan was for me to use it and keep the mileage down on the S10, it's fun to chuck around but it's not for me.

She should sell it but she won't as she knows shes never likely to have another bike if she does. She finds it too heavy and hasn't really ridden since passing her test, she used to ride her 125 a lot. I was hoping she would like the KTM 390 but she found it too vibey.

I've filled the tank to the brim, turned the tap off, run the carbs dry and emptied the float bowls, hopefully that'll stop them gumming up.

The US had a Fazer 700, but not a 600. I think our version was the Radian/Seca II.

I have a seca and a seca 2
They're ok for what they are.
Not really in the same league though.

Different generations. Radian was made from '86-90, Seca II was something like early 80's to mid 90's unchanged. 1st gen Fazer 600 was 98-04, replaced by the 2nd gen FZ6 (04-10). North America had the FZ6, which I think was the #1 selling bike in Europe at some point.

I owned an '06 FZ6 (also owned a Radian...) and think of it as the single best bike I have ever owned. That bike could do it all, windy roads, touring, commuting, I even took it off-roading more than I probably should have. Just an overall fun and capable bike.

I had an '81 Seca, that I had re-jetted, and installed K&Ns after puting on a 4-into-1 Kerker. At about 105mph, it had some scary steering. I laid it down one day, and shattered the the original fiberglass handlebar mounted fairing. I had a friend at a Yamaha dealer that had an FJ600 fairing with minor damage. He gave me the fairing, and I bought the frame mount for it. I got the mount welded on. I sanded and painted the fairing, and it mounted up perfectly. It looked good, but nobody knew what it was.

Then one day, on a New Hampshire interstate, I was riding with a buddy that had a Honda 1100. He took off, and I gave chase. My speedo maxed at 85mph. I was tucked behind the fairing, and was watching my tach. I was getting close to 8k when we slowed down for a toll both. He yelled over that we had hit 130mph. Yes, I'm sure there was speedo error, but, whatever the speed, the bike had been super stable. My first real world example of improved aerodynamics.
