Radiator Hoses

Hi guys,

has anybody ever taken off or needed to replace the longer radiator hose that goes from the radiator to the back of engine, not taken the bikes left bodywork off yet but wondering if you can change this hose with engine in situ,

you must be able to but can,t get my head around if radiator is removed is there room to get in and pull the hose off back of engine, or would you need to lift tank air box off and go down from top.

any ideas

Yes. Pull the tank, air box, throttle bodies, side panel, radiator, and that hose can be fished out.

I believe you will have to find and disconnect the radiator fan wire and move a few other wires around but it will come out.

The hose will be empty, if it happens to be cold, it will be stiff and hard to get it out. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm it up and you can work it out.

When reinstalling, make sure it’s warm and not cold.

hi tabasco,

we put the red SAMCO kit on today and coolant flush, we were lucky, you only need to take the left panel off and petrol tank, its easy after that.

the radiator,air box, and throttle bodies did not need to move. thank you tho for giving me an idea what was needed

I swapped my OEM hoses for a set of AS3 silicon hoses today. Like Bimota, I found that it wasn't necessary to remove the throttle bodies, fuel tank and radiator. I just lifted the tank and secured it, took off the airbox, and loosened the radiator mounts so I could move the radiator away from the bike by about a quarter inch. It's a really tight squeeze where the hose passes between the rear of the radiator and the frame, and loosening the radiator made it a lot easier to fish the hose through the bike. Loosening the radiator does mean you'll need to take off the left side cowling.

I'm not sure why the service manual wants you to remove the throttle bodies; that would make the job a lot more time consuming than is necessary.
